Rollback Operator
The Rollback Operator is responsible for safely transporting, loading, unloading, and recovering vehicles using a rollback (flatbed) tow truck. This position provides towing, recovery, and roadside assistance services while ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and customer service standards. The Rollback Operator responds to routine and emergency service calls, performs vehicle inspections, secures vehicles for transport, and maintains towing equipment in safe operating condition. Success in this role requires strong driving skills, attention to safety, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced and challenging environments.
Job Responsibilities:
· Respond to dispatched towing, recovery, and roadside service calls in a timely manner.
· Safely operate rollback tow trucks in accordance with company policies and traffic regulations.
· Load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles using approved towing procedures.
· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and equipment.
· Perform vehicle recovery services for disabled, stranded, or accident-damaged vehicles.
· Provide roadside assistance services, including jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery.
· Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, law enforcement, and service providers.
· Complete towing tickets, inspection forms, invoices, and required reports.
· Inspect and document vehicle condition before transport.
· Maintain towing equipment, tools, straps, chains, and accessories.
· Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations.
· Deliver professional and courteous customer service during routine and emergency situations.·
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of assigned rollback truck and equipment.
· Assist with emergency, after-hours, weekend, and on-call towing operations as assigned.
· Report accidents, incidents, equipment failures, and safety concerns immediately.
· Adhere to company productivity, attendance, and performance standards.
Qualifications:
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; high school diploma or GED.
· Ability to meet company driver qualification standards and insurance requirements.
· Ability to safely operate a rollback/flatbed tow truck.
· Knowledge of safe vehicle loading, securement, and transport procedures.
· Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanical operations.
· Ability to read maps, GPS systems, dispatch information, and service instructions.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the field.
· Ability to lift, carry, pull, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
· Ability to work in various weather conditions and roadside environments.
