Reporting to the Director of Programs, Mental Health & Addictions, the Nurse Practitioner will have a unique opportunity in which you will have the autonomy to adapt and grow the role as you see fit, in line with Phoenix's overall strategy. This allows for personal and professional growth in an atmosphere of trust, respect, and collaboration. As our Nurse Practitioner, you'll participate in the recovery and capacity building of residents and alumni by attending to their physical and mental health needs.


  • Be responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients and clients including diagnosing diseases, disorders and conditions.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient progress
  • Initiating treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribes medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits and conditions 
  • Collaborate with clients and other health professionals
  • Treating and managing both acute and chronic illnesses as well as simple and complex health issues
  • Ordering and interpreting screening and diagnostic tests
  • Developing a therapeutic nurse patient relationship
  • Providing direction, assignment, and assistance to LPNs and unregulated staff

Skills & Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Nursing (BN), or equivalent.

Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

Experience 2-4 years of recent, and relevant clinical nursing experience.

English: Fluent and able to effectively communicate professionally, orally and written, in English.

Computer Skills: excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.

Diversity: Fluency in language(s) reflecting the diversity of the community is an asset.

Criminal Records Check: Current clearance.

Driver’s License: Current required for verification

Tuberculosis Screen: Negative.

First Aid Certificate: Current certification with CPR in Emergency First on the Scene

Medical Clearance: from physician for work in residential care setting


Remuneration: $50-55 per hour, dependent on skills and experience.

Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours weekly. Days of the week can be flexible.
