ARO Specialist
Overview
The ARO Specialist will be responsible for management and stewardship of Wellbore, Pipeline & Site Infrastructure Abandonment, Environmental Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation projects, in conjunction with the coordination of BCER LRP and Alberta Mandatory spend and other ARO Programs with the applicable provincial Regulator.
This position is a fixed term contract for 12 months, based within the Head Office located in Calgary, AB.
The Role
Regular responsibilities will include:
- Project / program management of wellbore, pipeline/infrastructure abandonment, environmental assessments, remediation, and reclamation activities, including but not limited to project planning, tracking and regular reporting of Regulator Liability Program progress, managing and directing consultants, managing costs, data, and timelines, and regulatory reporting (including reclamation certificate applications).
- Direct liaison with BCER and AER on all ARO Programs.
- Provide support in the management of databases such as Wellview and Siteview
- Review and manage well and environmental records for utilization within technical field programs
- Provide weekly updates of progress and weekly achievements
- Support corporate reporting requirements
- Manage and update corporate internal and external ARO estimates
The Person
- Solid understanding of abandonment, remediation, risk management, and reclamation guidelines/criteria (Alberta and BC), with 10+ years' experience
- Experience with direct communication with BCER and AER in management of ARO Programs, including existing working relationships with these provincial regulators on ARO matters
- Pipeline abandonment experience would be an asset but not required for this position (training and guidance can be provided)
- Understanding of abandonment programs and basic Drilling and Completions would be an asset
- Professional APEGA and/or EGBC member in good standing would be an asset, but not a requirement
- Experience with management of a small ARO Team
- Database and/or data management skillsets
- Experience with Wellview / Siteview is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite
- High attention to detail
