The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement agency that has contributed to Greater Victoria’s vibrant community for over fifty years. ICA’s services range from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses to supporting vulnerable newcomers to become confident, contributing members of our community. In partnership with more than 500 community partners and generous donors and volunteers, ICA serves as a helping hand, a listening ear, and a tireless advocate for immigrants and refugees.

We are looking for a full-time Immigrant Employment Specialist (Career Paths, ISS of BC, Mosaic) position who will support and refer clients to appropriate programming and resources, and lead all aspects of career counselling, mentoring, facilitation, case management for our clients. You are passionate about supporting our clients to overcome the nuanced barriers they face, and you will confidently take initiative to identify their needs and advocate for them in their community. You build strong relationships, and your apt time management skills enable you to balance multiple contract requirements and deliver superior client service. The person reports the Coordinator of Employment Services. 

What you will bring to the role: 
A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
2-3 years’ related experience, including facilitating employment-related programs, recruiting mentors, and arranging mentorship matches, employment case management, conducting career and vocational assessments, or outreach work within human services, not-for-profit and/or multicultural organization
Related undergraduate degree or combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Knowledge and understanding of immigration issues, either from lived experience or from work within the community.
Keen understanding of equity issues to support persons from diverse backgrounds with employment-related challenges.
Expert knowledge of the Canadian labour market and best practices.
This position requires proof of WHMIS training, and a criminal record check that includes vulnerable populations check. 
Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement/refugee language.
A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
Additional assets we value:

Indigenous cultural competencies or lived experience with Indigenous communities.
Established relationships with local employers and the community.
Experience with client management systems.
Knowledge of community resources is ideal.

Contract duration: March 31, 2025

Compensation and hours: This position starts at $26.17 per hour, working 35 hours per week, and requires union membership.

Work location: 102-808 Douglas Street, Victoria BC.
