EMERGING ARTIST (Musician) - Multiple Locations Please note that aspects of this position are modified to ensure Health and Safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This call for Emerging Artists is available Canada-wide.

* This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs Grant and is for applicants ages 15 - 30 and pays minimum wage for your province.
Key aspects of this position:
- Perform music and provide engaging and high-quality entertainment at summer events including festivals, community celebrations, tourism initiatives, agricultural fairs, sporting events and tournaments taking place in public and quasi-public spaces within your assigned constituency. (For the duration of COVID-19, the Summer Emerging Artist Program will be a blended model of in-person and online activities, subject to local health regulations and guidelines.)
- Participate in career-related skill-development programs, workshops, rehearsals and training programs to develop the highest caliber of professional skills and attitudes that will transcend the summer job period
- Respond to inquiries and interactions via email, telephone and in-person in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain professional workplace behavior and confidentiality when dealing with life and workplace challenges
- Complete administrative tasks on time and with accuracy, as assigned.
- Attend functions such as job fairs, networking events, schools, and other approved locations to promote OMCI, the Summer Emerging Artist/Musicians program objectives, and the Canada Summer Jobs Grant program.
- Due to federal funding for the wages for this program, successful applicants must be 16 - 30 years of age on their first day of work. There is no longer a requirement to be a student.
Work hours take place during daytime, evenings and weekends, as performances are scheduled with training and rehearsals filling the non‐performance scheduled hours in each week. The ratio of training hours to performance hours is based on assessments conducted at intake, and the goals identified for growth.
The primary focus of this program is to provide support for, and animate our communities, support summer festivals and events, community events, fairs, tourism initiatives and build sustainability in our local artistic workforce. Some performers may be selected as principal roles in the Emerging Artist Summer Finale Tour.
* During COVID-19, online performances may target and feed to other identified and approved economic recovery initiatives.
Candidates must attend an online audition process.
Musicians should have a minimum of 30 mins (1 -3 hrs preferred) material suitable for performance in public spaces, and be prepared to engage and entertain the public. Performance slots are up to 3 hours in length., with online performances typically 30 - 60 minutes.
In most performance locations, musicians are also permitted to collect tips and sell their own branded merchandise.
We have roles for singer-songwriters, self-accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists, (including backline performers on bass, drums, keyboards, guitar, and horns). Please upload your cover letter and include a professional headshot if you have one already.
*** RETURNING STAFF*** Emerging Artists employed in this role in 2018, 2019 or 2020 are encouraged to add a cover letter file detailing their growth since their last season, why they would like to return, and what they hope to get out of the program if selected for 2021.

Please submit a link to a YouTube video of yourself performing one or more songs that you feel best represent your musicality.
Originals are preferred.
Video must be unedited (i.e. no cuts between songs), and links to public performances are permitted as long as they follow the above guidelines.
We will review a maximum of three minutes of content.
Video may be uploaded as “unlisted” on YouTube if that is preferred.
To have your application considered by the Jury, all pre-interview questions must be filled out completely.
