Job Description:

The Youth Employment Coordinator will work 37.5 hours per week: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, unless otherwise agreed upon. Evening hours may be required to meet the needs of JEC programming.

Responsible for coordinating primarily JEC youth employment programs; day-to-day partner management and engagement, data-entry, and building relationships with youth and employers.

This position requires interaction with the JEC team, agency partners, and clients of Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. Excellent customer service skills are critical.


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Related experience considered.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to navigate database software.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and participants from diverse cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth required.
  • Experience supervising staff preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Attention to detail and accurate paperwork essential.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.              
  • Must be able to multitask and work in a busy environment.
  • Bilingual ability preferred. 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to successfully complete a CORI/SORI review.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide supplemental supervision to the Summer Youth Works staff, ensure appropriate coverage and staffing at all times.
  • Participate in hiring/on boarding and termination process of Summer Youth Works staff as needed.
  • Assist both Year-Round and Summer Youth Works staff through conflict resolution and sharing program responsibilities.
  • Work with JEC Manager of Youth Initiatives to engage employers who will host youth during youth employment programming.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employer partners.  Communicate regularly with worksite supervisors to ensure a successful experience.
  • Help complete reports to meet youth employment goals as established by WCAC, partner agencies, and/or funders.
  • Assist in the development of best practices for youth outreach and recruitment, youth employment and work- readiness programs and partner management. Assist in center-wide reporting and data collection initiatives.
  • Review accuracy of timesheets and payroll submission.
  • Manage and coordinate weekly site visits to employer partners.
  • Work with Manager of Youth Initiatives and Youth Works Case Managers to coordinate youth job placement process.
  • Plan, execute and help facilitate training to youth employment programming staff, to include funder compliance, process, work readiness curriculum, and program design.
  • Work with Career Pathways Coordinator, and other program leads to select and/or design appropriate curriculum to integrate comprehensive work readiness content in all JEC programming.
  • Establish and maintain positive mentoring relationship with youth.
  • Work with Career Pathways Coordinator to ensure youth have appropriate wrap-around supports, make referrals for services as needed and coach youth to meet their employment and/or training goals.
  • Maintain detailed client files of youth employment program participants to meet funder compliance requirements.
  • Maintain detailed client database for JEC youth employment programs, including data entry in CSG Engage, Excel and Youth Works database, tracking program requirements, and ensuring accurate information is maintained.
  • Attend train-the-trainer workshops and other professional development trainings.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director
