PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To lead and manage all New Restaurant Openings including making sure the CDC process is managed and adhered to as well as continued MIT Development, Certifications and all Field Training Initiatives.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
New Restaurant Openings
- Select and Develop NRO Training Managers: Identify and train NRO (New Restaurant Opening) Training Managers as needed.
- Support Ops Excellence Manager: Collaborate with the Ops Excellence Manager to enhance the CDC (Continuous Development Cycle) process.
- Participate in CDC Calls: Join cross-functional support team CDC calls to offer product, people, scheduling, training, and operational insights to franchise groups.
- Determine Opening Dates: Assist in setting opening dates and training timelines.
- Ensure High-Level Training and Certification: Oversee the execution of training and certification at all NROs to ensure high standards.
- Manage Budgets: Maintain fiscally responsible budgets for NROs, covering scheduling, payroll, travel expenses (hotel, airfare, mileage, per diem, etc.).
- Partner with Operations Team: Ensure the training team collaborates with the Operations team to exceed guest expectations and uphold standards at new restaurants.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate ongoing NRO processes, identify areas for improvement, present recommendations, and lead change initiatives.
- Host Weekly Meetings: Conduct weekly development and update meetings with the NRO team.
- Assist with Openings: Provide support during new restaurant openings as needed.
People Development
- Lead Franchisee Training: Oversee the training and development processes for new franchisees.
- Execute Training Schedules: Ensure the team implements schedules and communicates management training standards to new franchise groups.
- Manage Orientations and Certifications: Ensure timely and accurate delivery of MIT (Manager in Training) and FIT (Franchisee in Training) orientations and certifications.
- Validate Competency: Verify that all new franchise MITs and FITs possess the necessary knowledge and can execute all restaurant functions through the certification process.
- Track Progress: Maintain feedback and progress tracking for all new groups and their managers.
- Continuous Improvement: Assess ongoing MIT/FIT processes, present recommendations, and lead change initiatives.
- Maintain Traveling Trainers: Develop a strong base of Traveling Trainers to support the annual NRO plan.
- Develop Certified Training Restaurants (CTRs): Establish CTRs in the field and follow up on certification status and training standards as needed.
Field Development
- Lead International Support: Act as the lead for NRO and field support for international groups and franchisees.
- Develop Workshops: Assist in developing and delivering in-market workshops, presentations, and coursework, including quarterly system-wide workshops in coordination with the Operations Team and Operations Excellence.
- Monthly Webinars: Ensure the development and delivery of monthly Training/Operations webinars based on system needs.
- Support Bottom Performing Restaurants: Provide support to bottom-performing restaurants (RED) in collaboration with NRO Managers, FADs, and franchisees.
- Update Training/Operational Content: Ensure all training and operational content is current as needed.
- Content Development Support: Contribute insights, knowledge, and ideas to improve training or operational needs during content development activities.
- Test Products and Processes: Understand all product, equipment, process, and procedure testing in company test locations and provide unbiased, timely feedback to project teams.
Slim Chickens systems principles and objectives: Has a thorough understanding of Slim Chickens' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, safety) and recognizes the responsibility to stay updated on these systems and the role this position plays in supporting them.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is designed to guide the activities of the Director of NRO & Field Training. It is not meant to restrict the individual's creativity or limit their thinking, nor does it encompass all the tasks that may be required in this role.
Physical Activities: Primarily performed in an office environment. Involves entering and retrieving information on a computer and visually verifying details, often in small print. May also require presenting information to small or large groups.
Travel: Occasionally visits to local corporate stores.
Requirements and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience developing eLearning courseware using Articulate 360, H5P, Camtasia, Captiv8 or similar software.
- Prior background creating learning content for all types of devices.
- Learning Management System Administration experience preferred.
- Adobe Creative Suite Experience preferred.
- Creative thinking—able to look at content and find exciting ways to make it appealing to the audience.
- Project management skills from project start to finish.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at one time.

Education and Experience Required:
- Some College
- 5+ years restaurant management
- 5+ years Restaurant training and development background
- 2+ years New Restaurant Opening background a plus
- 2+ years of Project Management work a plus
- Experience working in a franchise organization
