Recruiting and Onboarding Assistant
Location: Terrell, TX
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch
The Recruiting & Onboarding Assistant supports the Human Resources team by coordinating all aspects of the recruitment and onboarding process. This role serves as a professional point of contact for candidates, managers, and leadership from application through new hire orientation, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Review resumes and conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications and fit
• Communicate with candidates regarding application status, next steps, and company information
• Coordinate interviews and communicate with hiring managers about potential candidates
• Prepare and send offer letters and other pre-employment documentation
• Submit helpdesk tickets to set up new hires in company systems
• Order and manage pre-employment testing and ensure creation of personnel files
• Prepare for and conduct new hire orientation
• Serve as a point of contact for new hire onboarding questions
• Track and document all recruiting and onboarding activities
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in recruiting, customer service, or administrative support with frequent professional interaction required
• Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Professional and courteous communication with candidates and internal stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Understanding of employment laws and recruiting best practices is a plus
Physical Requirements
This role involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing repetitive hand and arm movements, such as typing, data entry, and other clerical tasks.
