Job Summary

Mt. Olive Pharmacy is seeking an experienced, motivated pharmacist to serve as Pharmacy Manager of our

established independent community pharmacy.

This position offers the opportunity to lead daily pharmacy operations while maintaining an active role in

patient care. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee pharmacy staff, ensure regulatory compliance, manage

inventory and operational performance, and maintain strong relationships with patients, physicians, and

other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations and Leadership

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient prescription dispensing.

• Supervise, schedule, train, and support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff.

• Coordinate daily workflow, staffing assignments, and pharmacy productivity.

• Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and workflow improvements.

• Maintain high standards of customer service and patient care.

Clinical Services and Patient Care

• Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, including dosing, contraindications, allergies, drug

interactions, and therapeutic duplication.

• Provide medication counseling, medication therapy management, and immunization services.

• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to resolve clinical questions and optimize

medication therapy.

• Resolve complex insurance claim issues, including formulary restrictions, prior authorization

requirements, and medication access concerns.

• Oversee medication adherence packaging and other pharmacy clinical services.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations and applicable federal and state

pharmacy laws.

• Maintain compliance with DEA requirements, Medicare, Medicaid, controlled-substance regulations, and

third-party payer requirements.

• Coordinate pharmacy inspections, PBM audits, and regulatory reviews.

• Oversee pharmacy credentialing, documentation, and recordkeeping requirements.

Financial and Inventory Management

• Manage pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory, returns, and medication storage.

• Monitor drug acquisition costs, reimbursement, inventory levels, and pharmacy profitability.

• Maintain relationships with wholesalers, suppliers, insurers, and other business partners.

• Review operational and financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of

pharmacy.

• Active, unrestricted North Carolina pharmacist license.

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards.

• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy pharmacy environment.

• Strong commitment to patient care, accuracy, and customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous pharmacy management or supervisory experience.

• Experience in an independent or community retail pharmacy.

• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, PBM requirements, and pharmacy reimbursement.

• Experience with pharmacy purchasing, inventory management, and financial performance.

• Experience with medication adherence programs and other community pharmacy clinical services.
