Hat community by joining our team. The Mustard Seed is committed to helping
people who are homeless transition toward and maintain sustainable and healthy
lifestyles. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will have a permanent part-time role as a kitchen
prep cook and will work 20-25 hours a week including all weekends. You, as an experienced
home cook will share the responsibilities in the kitchen between prepping,
cooking, serving, stocking and cleaning. A food safety training certificate
will be provided on as on the job training.
We need you to participate in the delivery of a healthy and
nutritious meal program, including preparation and serving of meals in person
or via pickups in our new professional kitchen.
You must be willing to ensure health and safety standards are met and so
cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen is key as is the ability to support the
all the procedures, standards and policies of the Environmental Health Services
guidelines regarding how food is prepared, handled and stored.
- Good organizational skills are a necessity for menu
planning, staff scheduling, food ordering and planning special events
- Must be willing to be trained and complete an Alberta Health
Services Food Safety Certification course
- Be willing to take any necessary training the Mustard Seed
requires – NVCI, First Aid
- Computer skills are needed Email and data entry are
important for tracking
- A valid driver’s license is an asset
- Periods of lifting at least 50 pounds on a regular basis,
standing, and walking will be required as part of this role
- Background checks are required and you must be eligible to
work for any employer in Canada.
