Location:        Longmont, CO partial remote flexibility, in conjunction with other nurses

Contract: Full school year





To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the schools


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Serve as the nurse liaison between County Public Health and the School District in the identification and monitoring of staff or students who are suspect, presumptive or confirmed COVID-19 cases

2.      Communicate within established protocols as outlined

3.      Provide guidance on COVID-19 exclusion criteria developed by public health.  This may include situations requiring the exclusion of individuals from work, schools, or extracurricular activities

4.      Case investigation and contact tracing:

a.       Initiate prompt communication with staff or students with presumptive, suspect, or laboratory confirmed COVID-19 and their contacts

b.      Interview staff or students with suspect, presumptive or confirmed symptoms to identify close contacts, monitoring of symptoms and isolation or quarantine protocols

c.       Determine and implement necessary control measures as outlined by public health guideline and protocols

d.      Notify close contacts of their potential exposure, referring them to testing, monitoring them for COVID-19 symptoms and quarantine protocols

e.       Follow protocols and procedures for documentation of case investigation and contract tracing

f.        Collect surveillance data as required or recommended by state and local health authorities

5.      Coordinate any needed referrals for testing or healthcare

6.      Perform all job duties within the scope of applicable rules, protocols, policies, laws and regulations

7.      Other duties as assigned



1.      Registered Nurse; prefer BSN. Or Masters in Public Health

2.      Obtain training in the protocols and procedures of managing the control of COVID-19 in the school setting including contact tracing and disease investigation

3.      Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns

4.      Maintain strict confidentiality

5.      Report suspect, probable, or suspect cases as required by law to local public health

6.      Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
