Glass Machine Operator (Recycling Facility, Afternoon Shift)
Responsibilities
- To be the glass machine operator which includes oversight of all aspects of the glass processing system including completing orders on time, ensuring finished product meets quality targets, ensure all equipment is being properly greased and maintained and are functioning as required, and reporting all deficiencies to Supervisor.
- To operate all controls for the glass processing system using the touch screen, including two grinders, natural gas dryer, magnet, conveyors, dust collection system, glass bagging equipment and screens.
- To operate forklift in and around glass processing system. This includes removing full supersacs of crushed glass and/or skids full of 50 pound bags of glass from the sorting screens, replacing stands with empty supersacs and loading full supersacs and skids of 50 pound bags of glass onto trucks.
- To inspect and clean vibratory screens on a daily basis.
- To check and clean screens, vacuum hood and magnetic separator
- To change screen decks when required.
- To fill 50 lb bags of glass in various sizes and stack on pallets.
- To shrink wrap skids full of 50 pound bags.
- To read and fully understand all operational and safety manuals of all glass processing equipment.
- To perform daily circle checks of forklift.
- To perform minor maintenance of the forklift including blowing out radiator on a daily basis.
- To operate the forklift safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
- To load trucks with skids and supersacs of glass and provide other forklift duties throughout the plant as required including loading trucks with bales, moving and stacking bales.
- To perform maintenance of glass processing system including greasing and adjusting belts. Change parts on primary and secondary grinder and scalping screen. Change bags inside the two dust collectors. Other minor repairs to glass processing equipment.
- To clean the floor inside the fluidized bed dryer.
- To keep accurate records of all finished product in supersacs or bags and to mark each supersac or 50 pound bag with the date the supersac or bag was filled and the mesh size of the glass.
- To check product daily to ensure product is clean and within size specifications.
- To maintain the cleanliness of the glass processing area, which includes sweeping floors on a daily basis.
- To ensure the dust collectors are operational at all times during production and to report any problems with the dust collection system immediately to supervision.
- To follow all safety procedures, including safe lockout and test procedures and wearing safety equipment.
- To operate the front end loader safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
- To load the hopper with glass and provide other loader duties throughout the plant as required including feeding the baler and pushing up loads of material on the tipping floor.
- To operate the snorkel lift following all safety protocols to unjam vacuum pipes and other tasks.
- To operate all baler controls for the IPS and Nexgen balers and provide support as required operating this equipment
Qualifications
- Employee must have held a valid Class G drivers license.
- Employee must be willing to work overtime as required.
- Employee must successfully complete formal training course on Forklift Truck to be paid for by the Company.
- Employee must successfully complete formal training course on Front End Loader to be paid for by the Company.
- Employee must successfully complete training on aerial work platform in order to operate snorkel lift to be paid for by the Company.
- Employee must have experience working with tools and machinery, be able to make minor repairs to equipment, adjust belts, grease equipment, etc.
