Bar Manager


Job Description: A bar manager is responsible for all facets of the venue operations, including all Guest service needs, daily shift operations, food & beverage execution, quality control, steps of service, scheduling, supervising hourly Team Members and utilizing daily systems.


General Duties and Responsibilities:


·         Ensuring all service and suggestive selling standards are met.

·         Managing labor, achieving labor targets

·         Managing costs of goods sold (GOGS), achieving COGS target

·         Managing bar supplies and other company equipment

·         Executing all bar requirements for parties and banquets.

·         Demonstrating exceptional Guest service by welcoming and engaging all Guests.

·         Participating in the Bar Team Memberrecruiting, hiring, training, development progressive discipline and discharge.

·         Ensuring compliance with ABC regulations and Alcohol Awareness Program.

·         Participating in management meetings and communicating to Management on bar operations.

·         Scheduling and labor management.

·         Managing all P&L line items related to the operation of the bar

·         Overseeing basic POS programing and training for bar team members.

·         Managing breaks to avoid break penalties.

·         Ensuring a harassment-free work environment.

·         Building relationships/partnerships with vendors in regard to promotional items, events, etc.

Job Activities:


·         Manages and leads each shift to ensure maximum Guest satisfaction and profitability.           

·         Oversees suggestive selling contests and continuing education

// creating/implementing bar menu item descriptors and selling points for service personnel

// monthly bar classes put on by local vendors

·         Manages Guest service standards and education.

·         Administers Bar Team Member hiring, training, development, scheduling, performance reviews, progressive discipline and discharge.

·         Resolves problems and implements correction actions.

·         Manages Guest recovery situations.

·         Administers bar product ordering, receiving and rotation.

·         Functions in a hands-on work environment.

·         Interacts with Guests and ensures exceptional service standards are met.

·         Assists on the floor when and where necessary to ensure positive Guest experience.

·         Spot checking drinks to ensure the drinks were made correctly based on the recipe.
