Job Summary:

As Facility Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining optimum operating efficiency and performance of the physical facilities. Also serves as the Environmental Safety Officer as required by Joint Commission. The ideal candidate for this position has proven experience in a leadership role and outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Priority responsibilities include:

Provide coverage for Facilities team as needed:

  • Perform routine maintenance on building interior and exterior (basic electrical and plumbing, carpentry, drywall, etc.)
  • Respond to and close out work orders, while maintaining ongoing maintenance schedule
  • Contact and schedule vendors and contractors for building repairs and emergencies that are outside the scope of routine maintenance
  • Complete general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware, hanging shelves and landscaping
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, weeding, mowing and trimming as needed
  • Proper use of equipment such as shovels, rakes, hedger, brush trimmers, riding and walk-behind mowers
  • Snow and ice removal (location dependent)
  • Horse Barn clean up and repair (location dependent)
  • Upkeep of pool to meet state standards (location dependent)
  • Assist with site setup for events at location

Leadership Duties:

  • Coordinate and supervise the work of contractors in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Maintain electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems
  • Coordinate or inspect, operate and maintain the heating, cooling and ventilation systems
  • Serve as the Environmental Safety Officer is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, evaluation and remediation of all safety related initiatives for the facility programs
  • Maintain knowledge of state/federal regulatory agency policies to ensure all facilities meet these codes, as well as life and safety standards of the facility as dictated by regulatory agencies
  • Monitor and report on trends, issues, risk over time
  • Order materials for department, track incoming deliveries and store inventory within department budget
  • Responsible for staying on track to department’s budget
  • Develop metrics for performance and manage team to the established standards
  • Review and approve timecards in HRMS to administer time off requests, overtime, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communicate with cross-functional teams to tend to priority needs
  • Complete trainings as assigned
  • Work with various software platforms such as HUB, GPO, Tels and other systems as needed
  • Ensure facility is secure

  • Other duties as assigned

Need alignment on Supervisor, Manager (Do we base this off campus size? If Director level, encompass safety, security and regulatory) Central part of leadership team (especially with large campuses)

No college certificates. Hired based on years of experience, master carpenter (current Team Member)

Requirement is more on the job experience (4-5 years experience running maintenance for large/multi facility company- contingent on Mgr vs. Director

  • College or university program degree/certificate; or two to four (2-4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Computer knowledge required
  • FirstAid/CPR required
  • HVAC certification preferred
  • Additional licenses or certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant legal, state and local health department and regulatory requirements preferred
  • Attention to detail and project management experience a plus
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion
  • High sense of urgency to deliver quality job
  • Leader who is motivational, has outstanding communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility with schedule, including availability to work on-call, nights and weekends

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and reach continually
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch frequently
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers, talk or hear
  • Work environment is both indoors and outdoor in all weather conditions
