Summary:                             

Responsible for leading the renovation efforts and supervision of the VCS Renovation Team.  The Renovation Team will be assigned renovation and small construction projects throughout the various VCS facilities.  As Supervisor, this person will work to complete designated projects, assign work orders, and oversee the completion of projects.  Will coordinate with the Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services and Project Manager when necessary and work in conjunction with the Safety Manager to maintain a safe work environment.    


Essential Duties And Responsibilities: 

  1. Commit to the Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS) mission to nurture and sustain a ministry of compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of persons within a diverse and changing society.
  1. Uphold and promote the VCS values of spirituality, compassion, quality, dignity, collaboration, advocacy and stewardship.
  1. Provides leadership to the Renovation Team members on construction and renovation matters.
  2. Coordinates renovation projects with key facility personnel including but not limited to the Administrator, Nursing Director, Maintenance Manager, department managers and others as necessary.
  3. Adheres to the regulatory requirements of performing work in licensed healthcare and childcare facilities.  Will seek guidance from the Safety Manager when compliance questions arise.
  4. Uses and installs only those materials suitable for use in licensed healthcare or childcare facilities.  Will consult with the VCS Safety Manager or Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services for guidance.
  5. Responsible for maintaining VCS-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  6. Willing to travel to multiple VCS locations where work or proposed work is to take place.
  7. Controls the work environment to mitigate impact to surrounding staff, residents, or other occupants.
  8. Responsible for maintaining a work environment that will not compromise the safety or integrity of the building or the building systems. 
  9. Coordinates with facility staff to access utilities.  Provides advance notice of necessary shut-downs or other interruptions in service. 
  10. Coordinates with facility staff when needed to coordinate with outside vendors who maintain or service existing building systems.
  11. Respects the work restrictions enacted at each facility by qualified facility personnel (Administrator, Nursing Director, Maintenance Manager, VCS Safety Manager, etc.).
  12. Able to schedule and delegate work at one or more locations concurrently. 
  13. Able to analyze and plan for needed materials and supplies for renovation projects. 
  14. Able to develop and communicate work schedules to renovation team(s) and facility personnel.  Will notify these personnel when schedule changes arise.
  15. Will analyze and recommend the tools and equipment needed for the renovations team(s) to be as efficient as possible. 
  16. Will recognize conditions or assignments that are too large, complex or outside of the scope of the renovation team(s) and seek guidance from the Safety Manager and/or the Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services.
  17. Maintains compliance with OSHA standards.   
  18. Maintains compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  19. Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  1. Excellent communication skills.
  2. Ability to work effectively and influence behavior at all levels of the organization, including administrators, management staff and employees.
  3. Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
  4. Able to operate electronic devices (laptop, tablet, I-Phone, etc.) to create and receive work orders. 
  5. Working knowledge of renovation and construction methods in DOH-regulated medical facilities. 
  6. Working knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 70, and other safety practices as they apply to healthcare.

Experience:

  1. Five years of construction and renovation experience is required.
  2. Previous experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred.

 

Education:                            

  1. Trade school degree/certification is preferred.
  2. Proven record of construction/renovation leadership is preferred.

 

Work Environment: 

  1. Typical day may require field work, planning, scheduling, travel between various Vincentian facilities, and interaction with Vincentian facilities and employees.
  2. Able to immediately relocate to other locations based on need.
  3. Must have PA valid driver’ license.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  2. Occasional need to stoop, bend, kneel, push, pull.
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
