Solo Incorporated is a manufacturer and importer of sprayers, mist blowers, air blowers, and cut-off saws.  We have been in business for over 75 years and in Newport News for 50+ years.  We sell into the home hardware, lawn & garden, janitorial supply, and construction industries.  Solo is a world-wide company with offices in Virginia, Germany, New Zealand, South and Central America, and China.  

Responsibilities:

  • Works with our outside vendor, Invoice Delivery Services to update Customer records and set up for EDI invoicing. This includes adding customers, output conditions, removing customers and providing all new information as necessary.
  • Coordination for initial Customer Master and Transactional Data Research as required for initiation of EDI on-boarding process.
  • Creates excel spreadsheets to review, cleanse and evaluate size and scope of Customer Data
  • Provides coverage over many different skill sets as required ensuring SAP workflow is properly functioning with EDI.
  • Communicates with Customer’s EDI team to assure all billing and shipping information is accurate and up to date with all necessary requirements.
  • Continuous updating and sharing of spreadsheets with Database and AR team to ensure clean records before Go Live.  
  • Ability to understand downstream impacts of EDI order processing and advise appropriate teams of impact.
  • Compiles spreadsheets of statistics post EDI to keep accurate records of transactions of all on-boarded customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across departments for reporting and collaborates with  internal business and IT partners to resolve issues
  • Assists with training for both Customer Service and Accounts Receivable to understand the EDI process for exceptions, resolutions and invoicing.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems using sound judgment and share solutions in order to effectively resolve issues.
  •  Ability to work efficiently in a multi-task environment on a daily basis, independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to relate and explain technical information to non-industry personnel
  • Prepare and maintain database for electronic data interchange
  • Accountable for the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the EDI information systems that support core EDI functions.
  • Monitor, maintain, support and optimize all networked hardware, software and associated operating systems.
  • Apply proven communication, analytical and problem solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of EDI systems.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing operations for the EDI environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 ·       Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Excellent phone skills in addition to the ability to multitask.

·        Strong interpersonal skills 

·        Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook proficiency.


 Education & Experience:

 ·       Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with EDI

·        2 years of Customer Service experience required.

·        Previous EDI and SAP expertise preferred.
