Material Services Team Leader
Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and develop our team’s capability to deliver JEC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.
Your understanding of JEC’s Business Management System Manual, the associated BMS policies, processes, and their interaction is imperative. A commitment to JEC’s philosophy of Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost, Delivery & Environment is a requirement.
This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.
SUMMARY
Oversee shipping, receiving and forklift operations for the Material Services department, supporting operational needs for all of our customers. Ensure efficient material flow, accurate line delivery, and timely shipments while upholding safety standards and company policies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Supervision:
· Work Assignment and management of job duties for Material Services Associates
· Accurate and prompt time clock records approvals
· Conduct shift meetings, on-demand SMQCDE priority alerts/notifications and communicate operational priorities
· Serve as backup for counterparts (Honda ↔ Toyota)
· Lead by example in conduct, judgement and work ethic in all areas of SMQCDE
· Document and escalate performance issues and recognition
Shipping and Receiving Responsibilities:
· Ensure all shipping, receiving, and child part handling tasks are completed on time
· Coordinate part shortages with Production Planning and assist in resolution
· Track and allocate dock space for build-out and new model parts
· Monitor incoming and outgoing packaging quality, including for new model launches
· Act as liaison with weld, stamping, and scheduling departments
Forklift & Safety Management
· Train and certify forklift operators in accordance with company standards
· Conduct and properly document forklift guideline audits based on defined frequencies
· Address and report property damage or incidents promptly and appropriately
· Enforce compliance with all SOPs and safety regulations; intervene as needed
Process & Area Management:
· Locate appropriate stock locations and reorganize the dock layout as needed
· Keep all equipment and the work area clean, organized, and functional
· Ensure all materials and equipment are in the proper place at the end of each shift
· Manage and maintain work area to 3A Standards and support 5S activities in other functions
Administrative & Communication
· Maintain and update training matrices and training plans for team members
· Active participation and preparation for regular meetings related to SMQCDE
· Complete Team Leader responsibilities outlined in SOP14-1-QA015 JEC Problem Solving Procedure
· Keep detailed confidential records and of associate relations and incident summaries
· Check and respond to emails daily
· Communicate effectively with peers across other shifts to ensure alignment
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises associates in the Material Services. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent/relevant experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Experience in a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment is an asset

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Inventory software an asset.
