Overview: As a Prep Cook at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen by preparing ingredients and performing essential tasks to support the culinary team. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will contribute to the success of our menu offerings and overall dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ingredient Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and measuring spices according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.

  2. Recipe Adherence: Follow recipes and guidelines provided by the culinary team to ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation of menu items.

  3. Stock Management: Assist in managing inventory levels by restocking ingredients and supplies as needed, rotating stock to maintain freshness, and notifying management of any shortages or discrepancies.

  4. Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including storage areas and prep stations, to facilitate efficient workflow and minimize waste.

  5. Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including knives, cutting boards, slicers, and food processors, to ensure safe and effective operation.

  6. Food Safety: Adhere to food safety protocols and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items, to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations.

  7. Assistance during Service: Support the culinary team during peak hours by preparing and assembling ingredients for cooking, expediting orders, and assisting with plate assembly as needed.

  8. Communication: Maintain open communication with the culinary team and front-of-house staff to coordinate tasks, communicate special requests or dietary restrictions, and ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.

  9. Flexibility: Adapt to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment, assisting with additional tasks as assigned by the culinary leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a prep cook or kitchen assistant in a restaurant or food service setting is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
