With iGaming and online Sports Betting regulation opening, Canada’s longest-standing Fantasy Sports company, is leveraging its 20+ years of Canadian Fantasy Sports experience and is launching this October.  Our mission is to open access to online Sports Betting and iGaming with a Canadian focus, and to help Canadian amateur sports prosper and develop. 

OfficePoolsBets is a Canadian owned and operated gaming company, and a prospective operator in the Ontario Sports Betting and iGaming market. We are an ambitious, creative, and collaborative group that leverages cutting-edge technology and innovations, looking to make a big splash, and establish a deep presence, in the Canadian iGaming market. 

To help with this launch, we are currently looking for a full-time Compliance Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the compliance function within OfficePoolsBets. This role will report directly to the General Counsel, but also work with the VP of Operations, Tech & Innovation.

A Day in the Life:

  • This role’s primary responsibility will be to ensure that the company, and its products and services, along with its third-party vendors and suppliers, are in compliance with all relevant rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Assist in the successful completion of the Company's gaming operator license application, including creating and implementing all policies and procedures required under the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming
  • Develop, implement, manage and maintain, and enforce internal compliance and control systems, policies, and processes for AML, ATF, fraud, theft and other unlawful activities, as required by regulatory bodies (e.g., AGCO, IGO)
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of the Company’s Privacy Policy, Control Activity Matrix, and other standard operating manuals and documents
  • Responsible for managing due diligence processes of employees, vendors, clients, and other material relationships, and perform compliance checks and summarize findings in clear and concise written reports
  • Lead periodic assessments of internal controls, monitor the effectiveness of established compliance processes and controls, and recommend and implement enhancements
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of all required regulatory reporting processes
  • Prepare and provide all necessary recurring reports to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., the Company’s Board, the Ontario Registrar)
  • Establish mechanisms and policies for responding to requests from internal and external stakeholders, and for the tracking thereof
  • Provide subject matter expertise on AML, ATF, fraud related regulations and issues
  • Assist Legal and Business management with identifying and resolving regulatory issues both within the business unit and across multiple units
  • Assist with regulatory related inquiries and audits, including requests from regulators and auditors for legal documentation and records 
  • Create compliance related training materials, and provide corresponding compliance training, for staff and contractors to ensure compliance risk and reputational risk is managed
  • Provide strategic insight to executive management regarding compliance trends and issues as they relate to existing and new business initiatives and opportunities
  • Lead and manage compliance and operational staff as directed by senior management

You Own This if you Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of compliance experience 
  • Minimum of 1 year of sports betting or igaming industry experience
  • Working knowledge of the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming, and other AGCO and IGO policies, as well as the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), and other AML regulations in Canada
  • Have a successful track record of implementing and managing compliance projects
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills and ability to and experience in dealing with senior management
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulators, including appearances in front of Boards or Commissions, Executive Directors, and staff
  • Ability to promptly respond to common inquiries, complaints, or requests from various internal and external parties in a professional manner
  • Excellent judgment and ability to handle highly confidential business matters in a fair and consistent manner
  • Strong ethics, values, and the ability to influence and impact decision makers
  • Should possess strong research, analytical and practical problem-solving skills, and have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, write and interpret detailed, concise, and accurate documents, such as reports, policies, procedures, and correspondence
  • Excellent analytical skills including ability to learn new legal and regulatory frameworks quickly and make decisions and respond to issues promptly under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to manage daily transactional inquiries along with ongoing projects
  • Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand complex structures and transactions and explain compliance issues clearly and concisely
  • Ability to effectively train employees
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications)
  • Having an operational, audit or legal background strongly preferred

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ambitious, self-motivated, confident, and act with high integrity and tenacity
  • Possess a deep understanding of relevant compliance regulations in Canada (especially Ontario)
  • Knowledge of gaming products and platforms
  • A keen understanding of correspondent gaming and related processes.
