Organization Overview:

Living Classrooms Foundation strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training; using urban, natural, and maritime resources as "living classrooms." Year Round Program Overview: In partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies and HeartSmiles, Living Classrooms Foundation will provide a year-round internship program for youth in Baltimore City. As “youth fellows” students will be provided unique access to essential services, support, and individualized career-focused strategies that are aimed at equipping them for success - both in the classroom, and in the world of work. While completing an internship with a local business, Youth Fellows are provided job coaching and one-on-one case management services to assist them throughout their internship experience and mitigate any challenges that arise along the way. The goal of the Bloomberg Youth Fellowship Program is to not only build career readiness, but to support youth in developing applicable life skills they can use to contribute to their communities at large.

Job Summary:

The director will be responsible for the coordination of the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the Bloomberg Youth Employment Program. These duties include managing and training staff, designing workshops and curriculum, managing budget, and ensuring that programmatic outcomes are met. Duties typically include assisting with grant planning and administration, fiscal, budgetary, and/or other associated transactions, program implementation and administration, internal and external operational/administrative liaison, program marketing, and reporting. This is typically a term position tied to the contract/grant funding period, which requires approval by Human Resources prior to use.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Case Management + College and Career Readiness Assistance

 Ensure that an Individual Service Plan is completed and updated every 30 days for each fellow

 Track and provide support to participants for their entire enrollment of the program, in addition, to one-year post-program placement utilizing Birdseye.

 Meet with students regularly and document interactions, follow-up activities to understand their job/career goals, and career/college readiness needs.

 Identify and connect participants to support services as needed.

 Conduct internship placement visits

Report data on members’ post program status.

Facilitate and manage college/career readiness outreach activities and events for students

Serve as a liaison between the school systems and program participants. est.1985

2. Employment & Training Development

Coordinate and facilitate employer engagement activities, such as guestspeakers, career fairs, or experiential learning

Facilitate college/career readiness workshops

Assist students with college applications

Assist with resume revisions, or job application processes as needed

3. Impact Measurement

Maintain real-time information on participant's progress in their chosen field of work and ensure appropriate documentation is complete and maintained for each participant

Ensure data is accurately inputted into the Birdseye case management system, and or other tracking management program

4. Program Management

Create effective policy and procedures to ensure program’s quality and integrity

Manage program budgets

Supervise and train staff

Complete all grant reports/reporting

Other duties assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.

Minimum two years' experience in community development and direct support services.

Proficient knowledge of workforce development programs.

Strong verbal and communication skills required.

Understanding and commitment to the application of equitable practices.

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Highly organized with excellent follow-though; systematic planner; receptive to feedback.

Experience working as part of a collaborative, accountable team.

Must enjoy working with youth and families of all ages.

Must have basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Some travel and training required as needed.
