Tomorrow’s Promise Campaign Manager Responsibilities

Living Classrooms Foundation strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural, and maritime resources as “living classrooms.” Living Classrooms serves over 25,000 youth and young adults annual with programming in the Washington, DC and Baltimore areas.

As part of Living Classrooms’ Tomorrow’s Promise Campaign for Equity, Opportunity, and Impact over a five-year period, Living Classrooms is hiring a Campaign Manager to drive all parts of a multifaceted campaign working in conjunction with the Campaign Leadership Committee. The ideal candidate should be a “doer” with the ability to manage multiple volunteers and volunteer committees. Extreme organizational skills is a must as well as excellent verbal and written skills. Must have comfort working in Microsoft Excel with various tabs and formulas. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support the needs of campaign volunteers (who are also donors). As the campaign committees take off, being led more and more by volunteer co-chairs, this role will likely evolve into regular stewarding of all campaign donors.

 

Responsibilities include:

 § With the Living Classrooms CEO; the Vice President of Development; Board members; volunteer leaders; the Tomorrow’s Promise Campaign Manager takes responsibility for the campaign’s success.

§ Develop detailed, working agenda and related content for, and implement weekly Campaign Briefing & Strategy Meetings to ensure timely activity, accountability, and action;

§ Drive and facilitate daily activity to ensure that the campaign remains on schedule and surpasses its objectives; 

§ Develop, guide implementation, and monitor the campaign plan and timetable including the appropriate phase activities and goals, gift tables, volunteer requirements, and daily responsibilities; 

§ Manage the campaign daily and help executive and volunteer leaders implement it in a timely manner; 

§ Prepare all campaign materials including updating existing materials and creating tailored proposals; 

§ Update constantly the Prospect Chart and tracking charts for all campaign divisions; 

§ Drive engagement of the Campaign Executive Committee and volunteers in all campaign divisions;

 

§ Help plan the gift requests of all financial prospects;

§ Guide and orient all volunteer leaders and staff for all phases and constituent campaign divisions; 

§ Develop prospect research, briefing papers, and suggested scripts for all leadership recruitment and gift requests; 

§ Work with President/CEO, Vice President of Development, Board, volunteers, and staff every day to plan their gift requests, draft the materials, and implement the campaign plan;

 

§ Draft and implement an awareness program to include campaign update email, volunteer newsletters, and press releases; 

§ Provide a monthly written report to review with campaign leaders to evaluate progress, identify concerns and recommend corrective actions, and share campaign priorities to accomplish before the next reporting period; and

§ Work with the Executive Assistant, manage the CEO’s prospect portfolio including helping to identify, schedule, and follow up with prospects

§ With the Director of Administration, manage the Vice President of Development’s prospect portfolio including helping to identify, schedule, and follow up with prospects.

§ Manage and keep up to date the Campaign Sharepoint

Prospect Tracking and Prospect Research – The Campaign Manager will develop, and constantly monitor, a Top 75+ Leadership Gift Prospect Tracking Chart. Our focus will be to take inventory of known potential donors, mine the donor (and prospect) database for unidentified potential and ensure that a robust pipeline of prospects is established, cultivated, and approached.

Guide Cultivation & Principal, Cornerstone, & Leadership Gift Requests – The Campaign Manager will provide a specific plan to convene financial prospects, script the visits, and ensure successful outcomes. Our focus on Principal ($10,000,000+), Cornerstone ($1,000,000 to $9,999,999), and Leadership ($100,000 to $999,999) gifts will include:

§  Monitor and help generate ongoing Principal, Cornerstone, and Leadership gift request activity;

§  Facilitate regular prospect review and strategy meetings;

§  Collaborate with staff to conduct prospect research and prepare prospect profiles

Drive Activity - The Campaign Manager will drive gift activity forward and make sure the right potential donors are asked first, that the most appropriate individuals are making the request, that they are requesting an amount based from targeted prospect research, and using best practice education throughout the process. We find this strategy builds confidence in the individual(s) making the request, which translates into more funds raised, and a more positive experience for volunteers.

Develop Campaign Communications Program – The Campaign Manager will develop a communications toolkit, built from the Case for Support that illustrates the short- and long-term plans and how these will impact mission. Deliverables will include:

§  Working collaboratively to develop an awareness plan

§  Prepare regular campaign progress reports to constituents

§  Design and help implement campaign communications materials:

 — Promotional Video

— Brochure

— Frequently Asked Questions

— Tailored Proposals

— Newsletters / e-newsletters

 Prepare Progress Reports - To ensure accountability and momentum, the Campaign Manager will develop agendas and materials for weekly Campaign Briefing & Strategy Meetings as well as Monthly Progress Reports to inform leaders, volunteers, and staff on progress, success, strategies, activity, concerns, and immediate actions.
