Description - Acute Care Registered Nurse

  • Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process in providing care for the clients with complex nursing care needs and be able to guide and direct others who provide care.
  • Apply the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care.
  • Identify potential client problems and take appropriate nursing measures to intervene.
  • Function effectively in a team leader/leadership role and uses team approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of client care consistent with accrediting/regulatory bodies, the VA, and Nursing Service mission, philosophy, goals, and standards.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with clients, families, or significant others, with professional and supportive personnel who provide client care and with members of other services.
  • Identify ethical issues in practice and takes appropriate action.
  • Act as an advocate when client self-determination is in question providing accurate information to clients and other staff when ethical issues arise.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and caregivers, utilizes group process for decision making through interdisciplinary problem solving.
  • Provide assignments which reflect optimum use of staff availability.
  • Act to avert or manage a situation, which meets the needs of the client in a safe/therapeutic manner.

Description - Operating Room Registered Nurse

  • Formulates and implements a nursing plan of care based on health data and surgical procedure and posting.
  • Plan of care that prescribes nursing actins to achieve patient goals and coordinates and organizes nursing activities.
  • Coordinates patient care needs with team members, including other disciplines.
  • Positioning patient properly for surgery.
  • Creates and maintains a sterile field.
  • Verify methods of sterility and safely use flash autoclaves.
  • Receive, handle, store and document prostheses. Performs surgical hand scrub, create and maintain sterile fields.
  • Provide equipment, supplies and instruments based on anticipated and unanticipated needs.
  • Uses and care for surgical instruments, supplies and equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Safe use and document of electro surgery unit.
  • Performs and documents counts.

  • Physiologically monitors the patient during procedures.
  • Monitors and controls the Operating Room environment.

  • Handle and care for specimens and cultures on an off the sterile.
  • Safely handle and transport medical gases and hazardous materials.
  • Performs circulating and scrub duties for general, urology, vascular, neuro, plastic, orthopedic, ophthalmology, pain management, oral, robotic, thoracic, and otolaryngology surgeries.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Must have the physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures and the ability and knowledge to perform nursing care in an emergency.

Description - Critical Care Registered Nurse

  • Assess the physiological and psychosocial health status of the patient.
  • Formulates and implements a nursing plan of care based on health data provided by the patient.
  • Plan of care that prescribes nursing actions to achieve patient goals and coordinates and organizes nursing activities.
  • Coordinates patient care needs with team members, including other disciplines.
  • Administer drugs and solutions as prescribed (competent with drug administrations and titrations per ACLS protocol)
  • Physiologically monitors the patient throughout their stay.
  • Adheres to universal protocol.
  • Performs nursing actions that demonstrates accountability.
  • Participates in patient and family teaching.
  • Provides Hand-off documentation.
  • Skills and documentation in the Critical Care: able to perform assigned task safely and correctly and document care in a timely and accurately manner.
  • Collects lab specimens to include Blood Cultures per hospital policy.
  • Inserts Foley catheters
  • Inserts peripheral IV access adhering to aseptic technique.
  • Performs 12 lead EKG
  • Demonstrates safe and proper use of equipment to include the bladder scanner, mechanical ventilators, IV infusion pumps; Accu-check, Zoll defibrillator, crash cart and bedside, central monitor and Propac transport monitor.
  • Maintains performance measures in the ER to include EKG, Troponin, Pneumonia
  • Protocol and turn-around time.
  • Provide care for medically/surgically unstable patients.
  • Additional duties may be assigned. Training will be provided if needed.

Description - Long Term care Registered Nurse - Kerrville, TX location

  • Demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process in providing care for the clients with chronic conditions, rehabilitation wound care and dementia population.
  • Participates and collaborate in interdisciplinary care meeting as well as provide patient and family teaching.
  • Apply the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care.
  • Identify potential client problems and take appropriate nursing measures to intervene including ethical issues.
  • Function effectively in a team leader/leadership role and uses team approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of client care consistent with accrediting/regulatory bodies, the VA, and Nursing Service mission, philosophy, goals, and standards.

Description - Cardiac Cath/EP Lab Registered Nurse

  • Must demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process for patients with complex nursing care needs and be able to guide and direct others who provide care.
  • Must be able to serve as a charge nurse for Cath/EP Lab as needed.
  • Must be able to serve as float nurse in Cath/EP Lab.
  • Must demonstrate skills in managing moderate sedation and monitoring patients during procedures.
  • Must be able to provide nursing care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures.
  • Must have physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures and the ability and knowledge to perform in nursing care emergencies to include ACLS certification.
  • Must be able to cover cardiology procedure clinics as needed and provide patient education.
  • Must have ability to serve as a liaison between Cath/EP and the acute and ICU settings.
  • Must be able to initiate cardiac and emergency IV infusions and monitor the patients.
  • Must be able to be on call for the cardiac cath/EP lab and therefore be able to be on station for emergency procedures within 30-minutes.
  • Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Additional duties may be assigned. Training will be provided if needed.

Description - Dialysis Registered Nurse

  • Must demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process in for patients with
  • complex nursing care needs and be able to guide and direct others who provide care.
  • Must demonstrate leadership and be proficient at delivering hemodialysis effectively.
  • Must be self-directed and comfortable working independently in the hemodialysis setting.
  • Must have physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to perform in nursing care emergencies.
  • Must be able to serve as a charge nurse for hemodialysis unit as needed.
  • Must be able to serve as float nurse in Hemodialysis Unit.
  • Must be able to cover renal clinics as needed and provide patient education.
  • Must have ability to serve as a liaison between Dialysis Unit (Chronic/Acute), including on-call schedule.
  • Must be able to prepare and setup out-patients for TPA indwelling and monitoring.
  • Must be able to initiate dialysis related IV infusions and monitor the patients.
  • Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Additional duties may be assigned. Training will be provided if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSE: All licenses shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Contractor staff must submit evidence of at least one full, active, current and unrestricted licensure, registration, certification, and/or other relevant credentials.

REQUIREMENTS (RN)

  • At least 2 years of RN's specialty experience required for at least one of the specific specialties (Acute Care, Critical Care, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Operating Room, Dialysis, and Long-Term Care)
  • A minimum of three (3) professional references
  • BLS certification (required)
  • ACLS certification (required)
  • Agency Competency Checklists

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Contractors shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. Contractor will provide documents as needed to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment and/or services performed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: These positions involve considerable amounts of standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. It requires restraining confused clients, repositioning clients, assisting with transferring clients to wheelchairs/stretchers, and transporting them to other departments or facilities. Mechanical devices are available and are required to be used for heavy or difficult to lift clients. The work may involve pushing or lifting weight in excess of 50 pounds and going up and down flights of stairs. The position requires visual and auditory acuity at a level to provide safe and effective nursing care. The position requires the nurse to work for periods of time with arms above shoulder level or with neck in a fully flexed or extended position and the ability to physically control or defend against emotionally ill clients.
