Summary of Position
The Journeyman Carpenter exists to
build, install, and repair structures, fixtures, and other items using
different types of materials including wood and steel with the highest level of
quality and efficiency.
(Core Competencies) Duties
Accurately measure height, width, length, and
Basic material take-off
to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.
Perform proper layout for work to be put in

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
Participation in a secondary or
post-secondary trade curriculum
7+ years’ experience field carpentry
and experience working with commercial carpentry tools and building materials
Knowledge and understanding of construction
safety devices and PPE
Self-motivated to grow personally and
professionally through on-going education as a result of the rate of change in

Carpenters work indoors and
outdoors on many types of construction projects, with varying degrees of
exposure to the elements. This may include extreme heat (>85 degrees for
longer than one hour of exposure), extreme cold (<32 degrees for longer than
one hour of exposure), excessive humidity and noise. Some hazards may be
present such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current,
toxic/caustic chemicals, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces.
