Food Rescue Program:Canadian Musicians Co-operative began the No More Starving Artists food rescue program in 2020 to provide artists and members of the public community with access to free salvaged food. The food and supplies are donated to our organization by local stores and restaurants. Canadian Musicians Co-operative is a partner in the Food Rescue network operated by Second Harvest. Note: salvaged food services are considered an essential service in Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a Coordinator in the Food Rescue program, you will liaise with our established Food Rescue partners to secure, rescue and receive food items, as well as approach and seek to build new relationships with possible food providers within the Barrie and surrounding area. Through community engagement, you will also distribute food and supplies at the Canadian Musicians Co-operative head office providing free access to these resources while maintaining proper sanitation standards of storage. This position is an in-person job opportunity with some online organizational duties.
Conducting regular food and supply pickups from the local partner stores.
Facilitating no-contact food and supply distribution to artists and members of the local community.
Abide by proper sanitation and food rotation procedures.
Follow or recommend enhancements for Food Rescue infrastructures, systems, strategies, procedures, data protection and policies.
Conduct inventory data entries.
Maintain confidentiality protocols.
- Abide by COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, in addition to Canadian Musicians Co-operative health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties, as required.
Position Requirements (Qualifications, Education, and More):
Between 16-30 years of age (this position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs).
Must be able to travel from city to city to access different stores to conduct potentially large food and supply pickups.
Regular and consistent access to a working cell phone with data.
Must be able to safely lift up to 30 lbs.
One to three years of experience in the following:
Customer service environment.
Food handling experience. Food Handler's certificate preferred, or willing to take a course and become certified as part of your employment.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Shopify and Slack is an asset
Some evenings and weekends may be required
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to keep calm and problem solve
Ability to speak with customers over the phone
Ability to communicate and participate in video conference meetings
