General Manager- BB's Market


We are looking for a General Manager to lead all aspects of our business. You will deliver a high-quality menu, a high selection of market/deli products, and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. This position will oversee four department managers and will be the lead for the store. The General Manager's responsibilities include maintaining the facility's revenue, profitability, and quality goals. You will ensure efficient operation in each department, as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in both the front and back of the house. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with customers, and support the managers of each department as needed. Back-of-the-house management experience is essential, as you’ll hire qualified team members with the input from department managers.

The right candidate will make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations. We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our facility runs smoothly and customers have a pleasant experience in each department. 


  • Manage 4 departments, Butcher, Bakery, Deli, and Restaurant. Each department has a manager who will report to the GM. 
  • Coordinate daily operations with the help of department managers
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
  • Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils, and cleaning products
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Manage the Market's good image and suggest ways to improve brand awareness in the community.
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste using Market Man software
  • Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly, and annual revenues and expenses using software
  • Promote the brand in the local community through community networking event participation (ie, Taste of Bloomington, Bloomington Farmers Market, local festivals, etc.)
  • Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g., discounts and social media ads) and work with the in-house Marketing Team
  • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices, policies, and procedures, always updating the SOP's
  • Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future Market operations for each department 


  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Market Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
  • Proven customer service experience as a manager
  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge, with the ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarities with restaurant management software, like OpenTable and 7 shifts, MarketMan, Quickbooks, Upserve (POS system)
  • Strong leadership, motivation, teamwork, and people skills
  • Acute financial management skills
  • BSc degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
