Job Title: Special Events Program Planner
Hourly Rate: $16.50
Contract Term: 8-week term, starting June, 2026
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Position Type: Canada Summer Jobs contract
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must meet the criteria below to qualify for roles funded by Canada Summer Jobs.
- The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- The candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
- The candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment

The Special Events Program Planner works with the Special Events team to deliver programming for the summer events at Heritage Park. Responsibilities for this position include:
- Acting as an on-site liaison for contracted performers on their performance dates
- Completing set-up and tear-down work
- Assisting with volunteer supervision
- Liaising with other internal departments
- Ensuring Marketing has the correct information regarding all events
Required Qualifications:
- Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria
- Enrolment in or completion of post-secondary education in Event Management, Volunteer Management, Communications, Marketing or another related field
- Prior experience in customer service, communications, event coordination or tourism is preferred
- Prior experience with an online volunteer management system, as well as scheduling or supervising volunteers, is an asset
- Prior customer service experience is an asset
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Proactive, solution-focused, able to take ownership and accountability to ensure task completion
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness in handling confidential organizational information
- Commitment to continuous learning and development
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting
- Must be over 18 as role will be working in venues where alcohol is sold and served
- A valid Alberta Driver's License is Required
- All successful candidates who are over the age of 18 are required to complete a background check. Employment at Heritage Park is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report prior to their contract start date.
