Alberta Charitable Casino Operators - Executive Director

The Alberta Charitable Casino Operators (ACCO) are hiring an Executive Director who will be primarily responsible for executing the strategic vision created by the Board of Directors as well as being the voice of the charitable gaming industry in Alberta.

About ACCO

ACCO is the primary advocate representing the charitable gaming industry in Alberta. ACCO has been serving members since 2006 and was formally established as a non-profit association in 2017. ACCO represents the charitable casino operators and its 18 casino properties across Alberta. ACCO provides information, perspective and industry insight for decision makers throughout the province. ACCO actively monitors government and regulatory activities in Alberta and other jurisdictions and it adopts and advocates policies regarding Provincial charitable gaming issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Develop and maintain relationships with key public sector stakeholders at the municipal and provincial level, including Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC);

·         Act as a media contact for the association and industry activities;

·         Monitor government and regulatory activities in Alberta and other jurisdictions;

·         Manage internal and external communication plans and execute outreach;

·         Oversee and implement a proactive government relations strategy;

·         Plan and direct marketing or advertising campaigns;

·         Coordinate meetings and prepare agendas for the Board and/or other key stakeholders;

·         Manage association membership annual dues and banking;

·         Coordinate association legal and administrative functions;

·         Monitor potential issues for the association, ensure the Board is well-informed, and recommend potential mitigation strategies; and

·         Create and deliver reports for the Board as needed.


Skills and Qualifications

·         5+ years experience in relevant fields including a government relations firm and/or the management or administration of an industry or professional association;

·         Post-secondary degree in public relations, marketing, or business administration, is an asset;

·         Experience with government lobbying at a provincial and municipal level;

·         Sound financial acumen, including ability to read and develop financial budgets;

·         Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;

·         Ability to adapt quickly to unforeseen situations and events;

·         Excellent organizational and planning skills; and

·         Ability to create and execute business plans.
