The person we're looking for has in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in a public company, proficiency in accounting research, and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an accurate and efficient close and financial reporting process. As a controller you have the ability to oversee various business units with individual accounting books and ensure all maintain accuracy, integrity and maintain sox compliance. You  pay great attention to detail, deliver results under deadlines and effectively perform cross-functionally in a rapidly changing and growing environment.

What You Will Do

    What you will do:

  • Serve as accounting subject matter expert, perform accounting research to determine appropriate treatment under relevant accounting guidance, and ensure the team is properly trained to execute proper accounting and reporting of these transactions
  • Coordinate with Porch Corporate to ensure new and emerging accounting pronouncements are implemented with proper guidance.
  • Comply with and implement any update of corporate accounting policies and procedures
  • Support the external financial reporting process
  • Provide schedules/documentation to internal and external auditors
  • Participate in other special projects and analyses as needed
  • Development and improve accounting processes, systems, and infrastructure to scale with business growth
  • Play a key role in developing and maintaining good internal controls as required for publicly traded companies
  • Establish ongoing accounting processes for recording and reporting complex transactions
  • Support SEC reporting requirements
  • Provide schedules/documentation to internal and external auditors
  • Participate in other special projects and analyses as needed
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure proper guidance and oversight to accounting-related software improvements.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience as a controller in a public company
  • Solid working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Subscription-based/ Internet service industry experience a plus
  • Sox Compliance knowledge
  • ASC 606 and 842
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to prioritize
  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and support the team
  • ERP knowledge, Netsuite preferred.
