Position summary:
The Cliff Effect Coach will meet with Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) clients and clients served through community partner organizations to provide guidance as they return to the workforce or face an increase in income combined with a decrease or loss of relied-upon public benefits. The Coach will utilize planning and financial empowerment tools to develop a budget and plan of action with clients, taking into consideration family needs. Through a client-centered lens, the Coach will consult with and coach clients using knowledge of the wide range of public benefits, ensure access to needed benefits, and make referrals to community resources.
The Cliff Effect Coach is a position within WCAC’s Resiliency Center, working to build and develop the programs offered together with the Resiliency Center Director, Financial Empowerment Director, and Community Navigators.

- Bachelor's degree in Social Science/Social Work or other relevant experience.
- 2-4 years experience in counseling, case management or coaching.
- Knowledge of and comfort with discussing financial issues faced by limited and moderate-income households.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients and in a multi-cultural environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Positive, friendly, and resourceful demeanor required.
- Highly positive and enthusiastic style; capable of motivating others.
- Strong customer service and client empowerment orientation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn Agency software and databases . High degree of computer literacy with excellent knowledge of spreadsheet and database software applications.
- Embraces and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Experience with systems of public benefits desired. Knowledge of Central Massachusetts area community resources and web-based resources preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between worksites and community partner organizations.
- Must successfully complete CORI/SORI background checks.
- COVID-19 Vaccination.
