Job Summary:
We are seeking a caring and dependable Child Care Assistant to help provide a safe, stimulating, and educational environment for children in our Child Care Center. This role involves assisting with daily childcare activities, supporting children’s development through play-based learning, and ensuring their overall health, safety, and well-being. Key Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations of the Child Care Center.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based activities that promote physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
- Supervise children during daily routines including meals, naps, toileting, and playtime.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment, including sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces.
- Assist children with dressing, diapering, and hygiene needs as appropriate.
- Escort children to activities and assist with transitions throughout the day.
- Monitor children’s behavior and development; report concerns to the Child Care Facilitator.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, behavior, and developmental progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents and participate in conferences as needed.
- Report supply needs and equipment issues to management.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Provide support in other childcare roles as needed to meet staffing requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Formal education or training in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working in a daycare or childcare setting preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Infant/Child/Adult CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a child abuse/neglect background check.
- Must provide at least three character references.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children in a responsible, caring, and patient manner.
Working Conditions:
- Work environment includes noise, frequent interruptions, and occasional exposure to unpleasant odors.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
- Exposure to cleaning products and disinfectants.
- Schedule may include weekends and holidays based on staffing needs.
- Hours and work assignments may vary to meet organizational needs.
