New Position Created to Improve Resident Care

As part of our ongoing commitment to lowering resident-to-nurse caseloads and increasing clinical support for our bedside caregivers, we are excited to introduce a newly created Wound Care & Clinical Support Nurse position.

This role was developed to provide additional clinical resources for our residents and nursing team by focusing on wound care management, documentation excellence, admissions support, and hands-on assistance throughout the facility. By adding this position, our goal is to allow floor nurses more time to focus on direct resident care while enhancing clinical outcomes and quality measures.

Position Summary

The Wound Care & Clinical Support Nurse will serve as a facility-wide clinical resource with a primary focus on:

  • Wound care management and wound healing outcomes
  • Clinical documentation and charting accuracy
  • Admissions support
  • Medication administration as needed
  • Hands-on support for nurses and CNAs
  • Quality improvement and regulatory compliance

This is a highly visible role for a nurse who is clinically strong, detail-oriented, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Wound Care
  • Assist with and coordinate wound rounds alongside the Vohra Wound Physician
  • Monitor wound healing progress and treatment effectiveness
  • Complete detailed wound assessments and documentation
  • Ensure wound treatments and physician recommendations are implemented accurately
  • Promote pressure injury prevention and best practices in wound management
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to improve wound care outcomes
Documentation & Clinical Support
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Support nursing staff with charting and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with admissions and related clinical documentation
  • Help maintain survey readiness and quality standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Resident Care & Team Support
  • Pass medications as needed
  • Assist floor nurses during periods of increased clinical demand
  • Support CNAs with resident care needs when necessary
  • Serve as a resource for clinical questions and problem-solving
  • Help ensure exceptional resident care throughout the facility

Qualifications

  • Current LPN or RN license in good standing
  • Long-term care experience preferred
  • Strong wound care and assessment skills preferred
  • Exceptional charting and documentation abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Vohra Wound Certified Nurse (VWCN™) preferred
