Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Anderson Engineering has an immediate opening for a Associate Geotechnical Engineer – Professional Engineer. This individual must have knowledge of geotechnical engineering, including soil sampling, testing, rock coring, groundwater measurements, and planning geotechnical explorations. Performs work which involves geotechnical engineering calculations, investigations, and reports. Reviews geotechnical reports and calculations by others.
Assignments usually include one or more of the following: developing geotechnical scopes of work, calculations, design software, overseeing geotechnical field engineers and geologists, drilling, calculations, reviewing reports, discussion of results, and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments. Works with other civil engineers in doing civil-geo design. Performs tasks done under supervision of Principal Geotechnical Engineer and Field Services Vice President in planning projects, preparing reports, engineering calculations. Communication required with junior geotechnical engineers and geologists, and Drilling Manager daily to coordinate geotechnical projects and field drilling. Communication with the Construction Testing Manager is required for geotechnical projects that go into a construction phase.
Applicant must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment, be self-motivated and customer service oriented. Manages people and projects wells - has strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are a necessity.
Responsibilities include:
● Project Management
● Proposals
● Contracts
● Analyze geotechnical engineering boring logs and other data
● Perform geotechnical calculations
● Make assessments and write technical reports
● Oversee other geologists
● Oversee drilling equipment operations
● Oversee geotechnical laboratory testing for reports
● Estimating quantities & construction costs
● Construction phase services
● Work in the office and field
● Overtime may be required
Qualifications:
● B.S in Geology Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar field
● Licensed P.E.
● 6+ years experience desired
