Position Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to promote, brand and communicate the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston to external and internal constituents.  This position is responsible for implementing the marketing and communications strategy outlined by senior members of the leadership staff.  Reporting to the Director of Board Governance and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager provides oversite and execution of the communications plan, creates and produces messaging and collateral, both digital and print, for branding, communications and outreach initiatives. 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Projects would include but are not limited to the following:

Oversee Communication/Marketing Plans for BGCGH

·         Oversee and execute marketing and communications strategy to promote BGCGH mission and strategic initiatives

·         Create communications plans for initiatives – including position papers, key messaging/talking points, FAQ’s, social media content and PowerPoint presentations

·         Manage the BGCGH brand, which includes ensuring compliance, signage development and installation, vehicle wraps and external communications

·         Maintain editorial calendar for communications (email, PR, web and social media) and ensure the timely distribution of communications outlined in the plan

·         Promote public awareness of BGCGH’s advocacy efforts and position in the community as a thought leader for youth development

·         Support media and other relevant external partner relationships as needed

·         Oversee the production of videos, draft storyboards and scripts, manage and schedule participants, direct the editing process

·         General support for communications internal and external talking points

·         Photography/videography – take photos and shoot video with an eye for branding and composition

Manage BGCGH digital platforms – website and social media pages

·         Manage all aspects of BGCGH digital presence (i.e. website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)

·         Drive strategy to increase daily engagement on BGCGH digital platforms

·         Lead content creation for social media, including, tweets, posts & videos and consistently update BGCGH Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn pages with relevant, shareable content appropriate for each particular medium.

·         Create and maintain website site content and design on a daily/weekly basis (as needed)

Create and Distribute Communications

·         Develop print and electronic promotional materials including advertisements, flyers and signage

·         Production of the Annual Report, reports and brochures as needed

·         Work with BGCGH program staff to create and draft content for communications

·         Take/edit photos, record video, capture testimonials, live tweet events

·         Write/edit content, and layout for messaging (electronic and print)

·         Maintain contact mailing list, and seek to increase readership/engagement

·         Write/edit communications for BGCGH

·         Stay up-to-date on local, state and national news related to Youth Development

Measure Analytics

·         Monitor and track BGCGH media placements -compile and archive news articles on a weekly basis

·         Monitor, report and present on online engagement analytics (web, email, social media, earned media) as well as community presentations and media appearances to measure impact on a monthly basis

·         Track website/social media analytics, and increase engagement - Increase fans, followers, and overall community engagement

·         Leverage key engagement metrics across platforms to optimize content, messaging and distributions

 

Qualifications:

·         3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit organization

·         Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as journalism, public relations or communications

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete written performance exercise)

·         Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills

·         Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans

·         Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

·         Proven results in managing social media platforms (Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies (Sprout Social, Tweetreach, Meltwater, etc.) to engage a diverse audience

·         Familiarity with CMS platforms and basic HTML (WordPress, etc.)

·         Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines

Bilingual - Spanish (written and verbal) is a plus.
