 Position Summary:

 The Buyer will be responsible for complex procurement methods that require a great degree of experience, knowledge, and professionalism. The Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of production used materials, consumables, general tools and supplies, PPE and miscellaneous, but are subject to change with different portfolio as per team resource arrangements.  The Buyer is accountable for the continuous supply, lead time reduction and total low cost, consistent with considerations of: quality; reliability of source and urgency of need. The Buyer studies market trends; analyzes price quotes received; interviews suppliers; selects or recommends suppliers with whom work orders are to be placed, schedules deliveries and maintains the orders updated in system.

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Identifies and sources suppliers that meet Photon Control business requirements including cost, quality and delivery objectives;
  • Issues, schedules and cancels Purchase Orders or Purchase Requisitions based upon company’s demands;
  • Manages purchase orders, supplier information and purchasing parameters effectively in EPICOR;
  • Process purchase requisitions and reorder of Kanban items;
  • Drives suppliers’ performance in on-time delivery, lead time, cost and quality;
  • Collects and logs data related to suppliers and suppliers’ performance;
  • Assists with collecting and preparing data used for the evaluation and selection suppliers, carriers, and freight forwarders;
  • Maintains all supplier qualification and certification documents;
  • Instructs suppliers by the most suitable shipping method and schedule requirements with various locations, freight carriers, freight consolidators, and freight forwarders;
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies with open purchase orders;
  • Verifies accuracy of invoices and resolve the variances;
  • Ensures supplier completion of all corrective actions;
  • Review & approve ECO’s in Arena;
  • Collect the sourcing information that needs to be updated in Arena or Epicor;
  • May create subcontract jobs for specific parts;
  • May manage the credit card conciliation package for approval and submission to Finance monthly; and
  • Other duties assigned by the Supply Chain Director.

 Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field in supply chain or operation;
  • APICS, CPIM or PMP certification is an asset;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the supply chain field, preferably in OEM environment or semi-conductor industry;
  • Direct experience in logistics related activities, custom clearance, freight and best shipping method;
  • Experience in the areas of: packaging materials; adhesive; general supplies and tools; PPE; service and maintenance:
  • Direct experience in managing and improving Kanban system, or supplier managed inventory;
  • Ability to analyze supply and demand, and its cost impact from different prices or suppliers;
  • Ability to prepare accurate purchase orders  and follow through confirmation and maintain PO dates;
  • Ability to work with suppliers on PO scheduling changes to meet our requirements;
  • Strong problem solving and collaborative skills to implement supply chain strategies;
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, specification and BOM;
  • Knowledge in MRP and item parameters set up of lead time, safety stock, MOQ, MPQ;
  • Proficient in using ERP and PLM systems, preferably in EPICOR and Arena;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • A great team player;
  • Good time management to meet timelines;
  • Professional oral/written communications; and
  • Proficient in MS Office (TEAMS, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
