Branch Manager


Position Summary

Responsible for the overall leadership of a retail branch location to achieve assigned expectations for growth, profitability, customer service standards, operational excellence, and associate development. Job performance will be based on achieving the customer experience and operational goals assigned to these locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the First Guaranty Bank Customer Experience Process for your branch.
     a. Conduct a weekly Customer Service Meeting and document with associates’ signatures.
     b. Daily review of results with the branch staff.
     c. Personally perform, monitor, and mentor the execution of key proactive behaviors:
          i. Adherence to our customer service standards by all associates
          ii. Referrals by Resource Associates
          iii. Quality conversations by platform bankers
          iv. Quality portfolio calls by platform bankers
          v. Identifying FGB Workplace Banking / School opportunities by all associates
          vi. Identifying Business Development opportunities
          vii. Working with all internal partners to refer opportunities to fully serve our customers, including:
               1. Financial Relationship Managers
               2. Treasury Management Sales Representatives
               3. Mortgage Originators
2. Operational Performance Commitments
     a. Work under the direction of your Regional Operations Manager to ensure full adherence to all operations policies to reduce risk of loss and maintain required regulatory practices in your branch.
     b. Assume responsibility for adherence to policy for Branch Operational functions, to include:
          i. Completion of the required Vault & Cash Drawer Audits monthly
          ii. Maintaining cash levels within limits set for your Branch (cash drawers & vault)
          iii. Monitoring ATM performance and replenishing ATM Cash to function properly
          iv. Maintaining records for monthly over/short and reporting to Finance
          v. Reconcile and balance required Branch GL accounts monthly
          vi. Verification of completion of required branch logs, including but not limited to:
               1. Night Deposit Logs
               2. Gift Cards (if applicable)
               3. Dual Control Key Box
               4. Monthly Security Checklist
          vii. Approve Branch Security Checklist and ensure security procedures are followed. Scan to the Regional Operations Manager and Branch Operations Administrator.
          viii. Verification of branch marketing materials for timeliness and compliance.
          ix. Ensure all fliers and disclosures are up to date and in compliance with Federal Regulations.
          x. Monitor and control branch safe box processes, including past dues and drillings (if applicable).
     c. Review and make decisions affecting the daily NSFs totaling $10,000 or less.
     d. Work under the direction of your Regional Operations Manager to properly delegate these duties as needed in your branch to ensure proper completion on time and within all policy guidelines.
3. Directly supervise the branch staff
     a. Document performance records and complete Performance Evaluations
     b. Monitor and approve weekly timecards and time off requests
     c. Monitor your branch’s overtime and review staffing schedules
     d. Provide platform services and assist in the teller line at times of heavy business
     e. Conduct a minimum of 1 quarterly results-review session with each associate to review specific performance results vs assigned individual goals and performance standards.
4. Conduct human resource functions within your branch, to include:
     a. Recommending promotions
     b. Coordinate efforts with Regional Experience Manager & Regional Operations Manager to monitor needed corrective action and conduct employee counseling or terminations when required.
5. Coordinate with the Regional Experience Manager and Regional Operations Manager to determine training needs for associates to ensure performance goals and expectations are achieved.
6. Incentive Plans and Branch Scorecards
     a. Collaborate with the Regional Operations Manager and Regional Experience Manager for your area to ensure the Customer Relationship Management System (ResourceOne) is properly tracking operations/revenue production performance
     b. Oversee and monitor the attainment of all scorecard goals for your branch and associates
     c. Review all results to ensure ethical practices are always in place to do what is best for each individual customer
     d. Actively review customer surveys and take necessary actions to address any operational/revenue credit deficiencies identified
7. Hiring and Staffing
     a. Coordinate efforts with your Regional Experience Manager to interview, hire and coordinate training for all new associates.
     b. Follow the standard training curriculum for each associate
     c. Ensure branch personnel has completed annual on-line training in a timely manner
     d. Work with the Regional Experience Manager to request and coordinate scheduling of float staff when required.
8. Attend and assist with planning semi-annual Branch Managers Meetings.
9. Support the corporate mission of First Guaranty Bank
     a. Volunteer for community events, financial education seminars, and other volunteer activities to support the communities in which we serve.
     b. Officially participate in a minimum of one community group to promote the corporate image of FGB and help identify new business development opportunities for your Branch. Examples are:
          i. Rotary Club
          ii. Kiwanis Club
          iii. Trade association / business groups
          iv. Charitable organizations
10. Perform or assist with any activities and/or training required to meet Community Reinvestment Act activities for First Guaranty Bank.
11. Personally adhere to all First Guaranty Bank policies including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and all other related compliance policies. Additionally, ensure that all branch associates or other direct reports also adhere to all First Guaranty Bank policies.
12. Any other duty or responsibility assigned by your supervisor.

First Guaranty Bank reserves the right to add or delete responsibilities at any time. If responsibilities change, each Branch Manager will be notified in writing or via email by the Customer Experience Director or the Branch Operations Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

· Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalence of at least 3 years of experience in banking / retail management.
· Experience in reviewing reports and financial data to identify target areas for improvement.
· Strategic planning skills to create action steps to address the areas identified for improvement.
· Coaching skills with an emphasis on long-term employee development to maximize the potential of each associate on the team to achieve assigned expectations.
· Experience in human resource management to lead associates and address performance issues when needed.
· Change leadership skills, including effective oral and written communication skills, to lead associates through changing work situations and obtain their personal commitments to achieve new goals.
· Strong organization skills to create and maintain detailed operational and associate performance records in your branch.
