Candidate Requirements:

•Updated medical physical (within last 12 months) with 2-step PPD and MMR screening.

•Two (2) forms of ID: Driver's License, Social Security card, etc

General Job Description

Caregivers provide personal and companion care services as outlined in the Plan of Care to the agency’s home care clients. They are supervised in the home by Nurse Supervisors who are responsible to insure they are performing their duties in line with the standards established by Homewatch CareGivers of South Orange, The Commission on Accreditation of Home Care (CAHC), and the State of New Jersey.


Requirements: Caregivers must

·       have a current NJ CHHA certification

·       have a met all initial hire requirements including medical documentation and references

·       have a working cell phone and be comfortable using it to complete administrative reporting

·       have demonstrated the ability to assist with all ADL’s including basic transfers

·       have the patience and compassion necessary to deal with dementia clients and/or challenging clients.



Hourly pay begins at $13.00 per hour. Weekend hours have a $.50 per hour adder.  Complex care cases and/or dual care cases may be compensated with additional adders. Caregiver hours are only limited by the availability of shifts and caregiver willingness to accept shifts as offered. All hours over 40 hours in the work week (Saturday thru Friday) will be paid as overtime hours (1.5X hourly rate). Mileage between clients will be paid. Other benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO) and a variety of insurance options including health care, dental, and vision care after meeting eligibility requirements. Base pay will be reviewed for an increase following the first performance review (typically between 90-120 days) and annually thereafter.
