Special Programs Supervisor
St. James Parish Government is hiring a Special Programs Supervisor for the Department of Human Services.
JOB FUNCTION: This is an administrative level position with responsibility for planning, monitoring and supervising the delivery of services for residents of St. James Parish. The Supervisor holds a position of responsibility where public funds are involved. The Supervisor shall have the ability to direct and facilitate the provision of services in accordance with federal, state, and parish laws, regulations, and policies. This position is classified as essential during declared emergencies and natural disasters and exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Monitor and evaluate the staff and services on an on-going basis according to policy
· Provide guidance to staff to minimize problems they may encounter in implementing an effective program
· Serve and perform role as EE Officer
· Assist with budget preparations, and grant applications
· Conduct training and workshops for staff
· Assist in planning and revisions of program budgets
· Review and certify program reports and forward to the proper authority
· Review and certify client applications, including taxes and forward to the proper authority
· Organize and coordinate special events, i.e. holiday events
· Coordinate with other agencies and programs within the parish
· Develop and revise procedures for Special Programs
· Ensure compliance with all program rules, and regulations
· Approve Special Programs expenditures
· Attend staff meetings, council meetings, training, and conferences as required
· Perform special and related duties or assignments as requested
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A graduate from an accredited college or university or experience in business, office management, administration, or closely related work.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,
REGISTRATIONS: A
graduate from an accredited college or university or experience in business,
office management, administration, or closely related work.
