Security Officer (Casual)
Overall Job Purpose:
A Security Officer is responsible for assisting in the monitoring of all video surveillance systems, access control and intrusion detection systems, and monitoring and reporting violations of overall safety and security procedures throughout the facility.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Perform interior/ exterior patrols according to SOP’s, including; checking cameras, ensuring other staff following security protocols, and monitoring facility; entering/ exiting staff, contractors, and visitors
- Understand and follow all documentation procedures and SOP’s
- Sign in/out all visitors, new staff, and contractors, including; assigning access badges, assigning security clearances, and filling out proper documentation
- Manage security system and all alarms, including; filling out deviation reports, following all SOP’s in regard to alarms, liaising with Alarm company, and signing out keys
- Assist in the safe transport of product
- Advise, and maintain good communication with all departments
- Advise security staff of any relevant changes/ notices at start of shift and record all necessary information on security documents
- Assist with conflict resolution as required
- Manage all supplies and other needs for security department
- Attend and participate in meetings as required
- Liase with local law enforcement as required
- Responding to after-hours alarm calls as required
- Other duties as assigned
Job Details:
Rate of Pay: $19.00 per hour
Position Status: Casual, Hourly, Permanent Position
Reports to: Head of Security
Schedule: occasional 6:00am – 6:00pm shifts between Monday- Friday to cover departmental absences
The ideal candidate:
- Has direct experience working in a security role with security systems
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Displays advanced interpersonal skills including communication with flexible, open, and approachable attitude
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must display proactive behaviour and take ownership of their actions
- Is highly punctual and maintain a good attendance record
- Has access to reliable transportation
- Must have the ability to provide a criminal record check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company
- All employees must be 19+
