The Role
As a Bakery Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of bakers and other bakery staff in the production of high-quality baked goods.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the bakery, including the production of baked goods, inventory management, and staffing.
- Ensuring that all baked goods are produced to high standards of quality and consistency, in accordance with established recipes and procedures.
- Training and coaching bakery staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to produce high-quality baked goods and provide excellent customer service.
- Developing and implementing new recipes and menu items, in response to customer demand and seasonal trends.
- Managing inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed and ensuring that they are stored and used in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintaining a clean and organized bakery environment, including equipment, utensils, and workspaces.
- Assisting with the hiring and scheduling of bakery staff, ensuring that there is adequate coverage at all times.
- Working closely with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to promote the bakery and develop new business opportunities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen, with a strong background in bread and pastry production.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and coach a team of bakers and other bakery staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of baking techniques and ingredients, with a focus on using high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible.
- A commitment to cleanliness and food safety, with a deep understanding of regulations and best practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
