Reports to: Manager, Facilities
Location: Hamilton, ON
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Posting Date: October 18th, 2024
Responsible for all routine, preventive and emergency maintenance repairs at all properties operated by YWCA Hamilton, as well as the ongoing inspection of life safety systems throughout YWCA Hamilton sites.
· Works in a hands-on repair capacity to ensure the buildings, systems, and equipment are in excellent working condition in keeping with YWCA standards;
· Adheres to planned maintenance schedules for equipment and the facility, addressing any concerns that arise, undertaking emergency repairs, and assisting in related projects as assigned;
· Inspects all YWCA owned buildings and creates a schedule for repairs; responds to all work orders in a timely and organized manner;
· Performs routine and preventive maintenance such as floor, drywall and furniture repair and clean up, painting, light trade work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC), and adjustments to pool equipment, and tenant residential apartment units;
· Documents and reports any and all maintenance issues to the Manager, Building Operations;
· Inspects and monitors building security, Building Automation System (BAS), safety and fire protection systems and equipment;
· Responds to emergencies and liabilities within the facility, ensuring the safety of all members, employees and customers; documents and reports situation to Manager, Building Operations;
· Provides access to service rooms to external contractors;
· Assists with set up and take down of program spaces, special events, and other equipment as required;
· Follows all policies and procedures that ensure the safe, practical and efficient operation of the facilities;
· Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
· Perform other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Works a 37.5 hours work week;
· May be required to work days, afternoons, evenings and weekends to support special projects and periodic building emergencies;
· Regular participation in a rotational after hours on call schedule for emergencies (e.g. flood, HVAC, safety issues).
· May require some lifting or pulling of heavy objects, climbing ladders;
· Some exposure to disagreeable conditions e.g. machine noise, fumes from oils, solvents or paints.
Qualifications
· Completion of high school or equivalent;
· Minimum 2 years’ experience with various trades (electrical, plumbing, building systems, life safety, contractor work), working with residential and commercial HVAC systems;
· Related building or mechanical trade certificate required, or equivalent education and experience;
· Must provide a current Criminal Record Judicial Matters Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost;
· Must have current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost;
· Requires a valid driver’s license, an insured vehicle, and the ability to travel between properties during regular business hours;
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;
· Must be able to participate in a rotational after hours on-call schedule for emergencies;
· Work from a feminist, anti-oppressive/anti-racist perspective;
· Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
