Your Role
The Volunteer Supervisor is responsible for leading the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of In-house volunteers at the Edmonton Ronald McDonald House. They also support the recruitment and selection of Event volunteers. In partnership with the People & Culture team, this role ensures all volunteer practices align with provincial processes, contributes to volunteer recognition initiatives, and maintains a consistent, high-quality volunteer experience across Ronald McDonald House Alberta.
This is a full-time position based out of the Edmonton Ronald McDonald House and may require travel to other Ronald McDonald Houses or applicable events in Alberta. Some evening and weekend work is required, this role includes one scheduled weekend shift each month to provide in‑House supervision, as well as one weekday evening shift each week to connect with and support volunteers

Working closely with House leadership, People & Culture, and community partners, the Volunteer Supervisor helps create a culture of belonging and appreciation—where volunteers know their time matters, their contributions are valued, and their presence makes a real difference for families during some of their most challenging moments.
Your Key Responsibilities
Partner with leaders to assess volunteer needs and deliver full‑cycle recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientation and training for In‑House, Event, and group volunteers in alignment with provincial processes created by the People and Culture team
Act as the primary point of contact for all volunteers, responding promptly to applications, inquiries, issues, and concerns
Lead volunteers through onboarding, ensuring completion, tracking, and secure storage of all required documentation
Coordinate volunteer scheduling and shifts, including Helping Hands roles
Deliver volunteer orientation, tours ensuring consistent application of provincial volunteer processes
Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours, and data in Volunteer Hub
Support volunteer communications to ensure awareness of organizational updates, activities, and events
Provide ongoing volunteer stewardship and support to ensure positive, meaningful volunteer experiences
Attend and support events as needed to ensure a positive volunteer experience
Represent the organization at community events, fairs, and outreach activities to promote volunteer opportunities
Build and maintain partnerships with businesses, schools, and community groups to expand and diversify the volunteer network
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ experience in recruitment and/or volunteer planning
Post secondary education in Volunteer Management, Human Resources, Community Development or other relevant fields
Strong relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, with previous experience in scheduling resources
Acts with integrity and professionalism in managing confidential information and respecting privacy
A self-starter with demonstrated experience utilizing volunteers to enhance programs and services within a non-profit organization
Experience in supporting and stewarding volunteers to support the operational need, while also providing an engaging experience for the volunteers
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and database software
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Must provide a clear Police Information Check
