Who We Are:

Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.

Job Overview:

Under the overall direction of the Transportation Manager operates Heritage Park's bus to transport staff, designated guests and articles within the Park as well as maintain it in a safe and clean condition.

Responsibilities:

Bus Operation

  • Safely transport designated persons within the Park, adhering to schedules and driving routes as required, while maintaining awareness of unique conditions such as the presence of horses
  • Provide specialized care and attention when transporting seniors and guests with special needs
  • Offer exceptional customer service and information to visitors in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Operate Heritage Park's bus responsibly, ensuring the safety of passengers and being mindful of surrounding conditions
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from the bus
  • Keep the bus clean and well-maintained to ensure safety and comfort for passengers
  • Be prepared to respond to calls for First Aid and provide necessary assistance as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on long-term benefits for the organization and its stakeholders

Required Qualifications:  

  • Previous experience operating a passenger vehicle
  • A valid class 1, 2 or 4 driver's license is required (current driver’s abstract required on an annual basis)
  • Commercial Driver’s Abstract is required
  • Air Brakes Endorsement is an asset
  • Possession of a valid Standard First Aid Level C CPR/AED certification is required; certification can be obtained upon employment
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
  • Candidates are required to submit their work experience history and employment verification from the past 3 years’
  • All successful candidates (over 18) will be required to undergo a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. 

Special Clothing and Equipment: 

  • Uniform and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and 
  • The employee will provide footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department. 

Special Working Conditions: 

  • The position will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures; and 
  • This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must be able to lift heavy items and stand for long periods of time. 

Hours of Work: 

  • Various scheduled hours of work, including weekends, statutory holidays, fluctuating hours and overtime as required.
  • Under the Province of Alberta Traffic Safety Act, employees are required to adhere to guidelines regarding hours of work and rest;
  • Employees are required to log their hours and report hours worked driving for other organizations to ensure compliance.
