Environmental Operations Manager
Office Location: Fort St. John & Port Moody, BC / Calgary, AB

The primary function of the Operations Manager is to lead the operations department by managing large project portfolios while building and managing a group of professionals at various stages of experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support business development and proposal initiatives to achieve business development and strategic goals.
- Manage overall project/program budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations and internal and contract requirements and ensure compliance with portfolio objectives direction and budgeting requests.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the firm including senior managers, technical discipline and business sector leaders, and operations managers in a one-team approach.
- Provide technical advice, support and review for remediation and reclamation programs.
- Prepare and review technical correspondence, reports, work plans, and project specifications.
- Provide ongoing updates to the clients to meet their communication needs with excellent levels of customer service.
- Review and sign-off on monthly invoices to clients, managing and forecasting client budgets.
- Undertake occasional travel to Calgary, Fort St. John, Vancouver, or other destinations to manage projects or meet with clients.
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff, providing guidance and assisting in their development.
- Ensure project staff meet, maintain, or exceed client specific health and safety requirements.
- Ensure chargeability goals are met for yourself and your reports and provide ongoing evaluation of workload and performance.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications for Environmental Operations Manager
- 15+ years of relevant contaminated sites/reclamation/natural sciences experience in environmental consulting in BC, with 10+ years of project management experience.
- Technical diploma or degree in a related discipline.
- Possesses a recognized accredited professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, P.Ag. etc.) recognized in BC
- Strong technical background in remediation and reclamation with knowledge of BC OGC regulations.
- Experience managing large portfolios, technically complex projects, managing budgets > $2M/year, and overseeing cost controls.
- Working knowledge of provincial, local and industry specific regulations and guidelines.
- Experience and proven success in client management and preparation of proposals.
- Experience managing a team of professionals, while providing training and mentorship to juniors.
- Strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
