POSITION SUMMARY
As the Operations Controller, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our construction and operational activities. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of cost control, profitability analysis, and accurate billing practices—ensuring projects run smoothly and decisions are backed by strong financial insight.
In this role, you’ll work closely with project managers, estimators, project controls, and senior leadership, giving you the opportunity to influence major projects and help strengthen processes that improve margins and operational efficiency. This is your chance to make a measurable impact, drive financial clarity, and contribute to smarter decision-making across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Lead financial reporting for operations, including monthly and quarterly project performance reviews.
· Monitor project profitability, job costing, variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
· Collaborate to develop operational KPIs, benchmarks and dashboards, with variance analysis, for management.
· Collaborate with project managers and project controls to review budgets, change orders, cost projections.
· Oversee project billings, holdbacks and lien releases.
· Support cashflow management and working capital optimization.
· Provide financial insights to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
· Assist in developing project management processes to support the financial goals of the organization.
· Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
· Identify risks and opportunities related to project execution and resource allocation.
· Set overall goals and establish priorities with the team lead/supervisors for the department.
· Responsible for general quality, role definition of all project controls personnel and ethical standards.
· Project control measures to identify and monitor standards and performance and to
communicate results, advice, and options.
· Financial reporting of information and results based on needs and accepted accounting principles.
· Collaborate with Financial Analyst and Financial Controller to interpret and report financial information to the executive & management teams.
· Leadership of project controls group and project budgets.
· Recommend budgetary and operational objectives and performance monitoring activities.
· Assist with project year end requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Post-Secondary Education Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics or similar fields.
· CPA and/or PMP designation an asset.
· 5+ years of relevant Construction and/or Mining experience
· Demonstrated working experience with cost budgeting, job costing, contract and change order tracking and monitoring, managing cost commitments.
· Knowledge of different types of construction/mining contracts is a strong asset.
· Advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office knowledge.
· Work experience with financial software systems. Eclipse and 4CastPlus experience are an asset.
· Working experience with Microsoft Project software an asset.
· Understanding of project management practices.
· Knowledge of General Accepted Payroll Principles (GAPP).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
· Familiarity with key methodologies such as Agile, PMBOK, or other relevant frameworks.
· Knowledge of mining processes, including exploration, extraction, and processing.
· Awareness of regulatory, environmental, and safety standards in the mining industry.
· Understanding of financial reporting principles and key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to construction and mining operations.
· Familiarity with analytical tools like Power BI or Tableau.
· Capable of adjusting to dynamic operational requirements and unforeseen project challenges.

technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
