OVERVIEW

 

Ridley College is seeking a Manager of Retail Operations to lead the day-to-day operations of Hank’s Campus Store and the Sewing Room. Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operating Officer, this role is responsible for staff leadership, customer experience, merchandising, and financial oversight within a dynamic school environment. This posting is for an exisiting full-time vacancy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Plan, organize, and oversee year-round operations for the Campus Store and Sewing Room.

Lead, coach, and support full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.

Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and service-oriented environment for students, families, and colleagues.

Establish, document, and continuously improve operational processes and workflows.

Oversee merchandising strategy including product selection, pricing, in-store displays, inventory planning, and the online storefront.

Analyze sales trends and historical data to inform purchasing decisions and identify opportunities for sustainable revenue growth.

Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, and oversee purchasing of merchandise and sewing room supplies.

Prepare and manage annual budgets; oversee daily transactions, cash controls, reconciliation processes, and internal reporting.

Ensure accurate inventory reporting and support year-end audit processes.

Coordinate retail, sewing, and concession support for major school events such as Homecoming and Graduation.

Build constructive working relationships with faculty, administration, and departments across the School.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Post-secondary education in business, operations management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience leading retail or multi-service operations in complex or evolving environments.

Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, scheduling, and staff development.

Strong working knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, customer service practices, and point-of-sale systems.

Experience with financial oversight including budgeting, reconciliation, and internal reporting.

Experience supporting or overseeing e-commerce operations considered an asset.

 

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-interruption environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across a diverse community.

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, ambiguity, and seasonal operational demands.

Physical ability to meet the demands of a retail environment, including lifting, climbing ladders, and being on one’s feet for extended periods.
