Mechanical Engineer (EIT)

This role is for Janox Fluid Power, a subsidiary of the Boundary Mining Group.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanical Engineer provides support to the Project Manager, Engineering for machine design and hydraulic design. The Mechanical Engineer will support project management to ensure deliverables are met by the required customer deadlines. Depending on candidate experience, the successful incumbent may be responsible for managing mechanical engineer projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Project Manager with preparing preliminary drawings and specifications, for submission to customers.
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare AutoCad / Solidworks drawings of items such as hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic power units.
• Prepare documents, reports, and manuals.
• Prepare bills of material and carry out purchasing.
• Assist with the shop assembly and testing of equipment being manufactured.
• Completes incoming inspections / quality assurance of parts as required.
• Assist with the planning of field installations.
• This position may require out-of-town travel providing engineering assistance to the field crew.
• Any other tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience managing engineering projects / client requests is considered an asset.
• Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
• Eligible for registration with a professional association (EGBC or ASTTBC) is considered an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset. Candidates with mechanical hobbies or work experience will be given preference.
• Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
• Experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
• Able to demonstrate proficiency in technical writing.
• Experience with AutoCad and Solidworks is required.
• Understanding of hydraulic equipment is considered an asset.
• Experience with Infor Visual ERP and Kanbanize is considered an asset.
• Class 5 driver’s license is required.
• Foundational understanding of engineering drawings and schematics.

Working Conditions:

• The role is based out of Janox Fluid Power in Delta, BC. 
• The work environment will be a combination of office work, shop work, and field or site-based work (including supervising, commissioning, and installation).
• Out-of-town travel, field work, and/or overtime as required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
