Hillside Pines - Casual Registered Nurse (RN)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Casual Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, with experience in various clinical settings including hospital, home care, assisted living, and nursing homes. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality nursing services across diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, seniors, and individuals with dementia or chronic conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct patient care across multiple settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments.
• Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses to treatment.
• Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy and laboratory specimen collection.
• Utilize electronic health records systems such as Epic and Cerner for documentation and patient data management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health management, medication use, and post-discharge care instructions.
• Monitor vital signs, assess patient conditions, and respond promptly to changes or emergencies.
• Manage pain control strategies and participate in case management activities for complex cases.
• Assist with mobility, hygiene, and other activities of daily living as needed.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards while ensuring quality patient care.

Qualifications:

• Current RN registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
• Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred
• Additional education or experience in geriatric nursing, palliative, or dementia care considered an asset
• Standard First Aid CPR Certification
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Committed to work all shifts based on elder needs.
• Hours: Casual - Includes 12-hour and 8-hour round the clock shift rotation.

Salary: As per Hillside Pines and NSNU scale.
