Job Title: A/V Tech Assistant
Hourly Rate: $17.50
Contract Term: 8-week term, starting May 2025
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Eligibility Criteria:

- The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- The candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada

Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting up and dismantling audio-visual AV equipment for events, meetings, and presentations, ensuring client setup needs are accurately met and equipment is secured
- Assist in installing and configuring AV systems, including sound systems, projectors, and displays
- Assist in testing, maintaining, and repairing AV equipment to ensure optimal performance, and ensure accurate documentation of steps
- Provide technical support during events, troubleshooting AV equipment issues as needed
- Collaborate with the team to coordinate equipment logistics and setups for various venues
- Support in the inventory management of AV equipment and supplies, including tracking usage and identifying the need for replenishing stock
- Assist in the documentation of AV setup procedures and troubleshooting guidelines
- Provide daily summaries of tasks completed and pending to Banquets and Custodial Manager, ensuring prompt hand-off of urgent matters and smooth team collaboration
- Assist the Banquets team in making the event run smoothly by helping with food and beverage service
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria
- Minimum secondary school education is required; post-secondary education in a related technical field will be an asset; technical certifications or training in audio-visual technology and/or strong abstract and mechanical reasoning is a plus
- A minimum of six months of prior experience in providing AV support; experience in a multi-event setting will be an asset
- A valid Alberta driver’s licence is required
- Proficient knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including sound systems, projectors, and displays
- Knowledge of computer applications, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams & Word, SonoBus, Audacity or other audio-related programs, as well as Zoom
- Excellent customer service focus, including the ability to handle and manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support event schedules
- All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
