Title: Volunteer After School

Volunteer Commitment: 2 hours per week from 3:00 - 5:00pm

Afterschool Volunteer Opportunity

Our afterschool drop in is a program for school aged youth (5-17) that runs weekdays from 3:00 - 5:00pm. Youth can play sports, socialize, play games and more.

This position is responsible for ensuring quality, safe, and inclusive program delivery with a focus on physical literacy, cooperative play, and confidence building. As a volunteer you will work directly with school age youth (ages 5-17) to assist in delivering programming such as sports, crafts, games etc. 

Responsibilities

  • Program Delivery: Responsible for assisting in the delivery of hands-on program activities for school age youth (ages 5-17). Program deliver will provide participants with a safe, inclusive, and positive environment. Program facilitation is in keeping with established outcomes/objectives, in addition to YMCA quality and child safeguarding standards, and provincial regulations. This includes, program set-up/take down, preparation of materials and procurement of supplies/equipment, program evaluation and measurements of success. 
  • Leading by example and forming positive relationships with youth within the program through supervision and mentorship. 
  • Ensure the safety of youth in the program by following proper child safeguarding procedures.

Please note that the successful candidate is required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, clear Child Abuse Registry Check, and valid First Aid and CPR training.
