Consumer Protection BC is looking for a temporary (12-month term) Manager of Communications & Education to join our team! If you are interested, review the job description and apply online by uploading your cover letter and resume (in one document) and answering a few pre-screening questions within our online application portal.

Day in the life:

In this role, your day starts with what’s already in motion. You begin by checking in on active campaigns, compiling stats and adding to a marketing campaign report that will eventually be reviewed by the Leadership Team. With that task done, it’s time to deep dive into the website redesign project. After the last cross‑departmental meeting, you’re eager to begin aligning brand with function, ensuring that analytics and page development meet the needs of the organization and its clients. Your aim is clear, accurate and up‑to‑date information, because people and businesses across BC rely on it to understand their rights and responsibilities.

As the day unfolds, you’ll coordinate with colleagues across the organization and with external vendors to keep other communications projects moving forward. That could mean reviewing draft content, approving creative materials, tracking timelines, or keeping an eye on budgets to ensure everything stays on course. You’ll also provide day‑to‑day leadership to the Communications & Education Coordinator. You’re a mentor and lead with our values of curiosity, integrity and impact in mind.

This temporary leave coverage role is about stepping into a well‑established portfolio and keeping things running well. The work is varied, practical and hands‑on, with a steady rhythm rather than constant reinvention. If you enjoy juggling multiple tasks, staying organized, and seeing communications projects through from start to finish, you’ll feel right at home!

Who you are:

  • A knowledgeable communications professional with a deep understanding of social media platforms, marketing best practices and industry tools.
  • Someone who understands and embraces flexibility in their work.
  • A proactive planner who can listen, understand and respond with our values in mind and is looking to expand on existing skills in this temporary role.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing and administering a variety of communications programs to educate consumers, maintain a consistent brand and meet organizational goals.
  • Monitoring internal and external trends and issues and flagging emerging risks or general trends through reports to Leadership.
  • Managing day-to-day delivery of existing social media channels, consumer email campaigns, online advertising and other promotional activities.
  • Supporting a website redesign to ensure communication and education needs are met, including analytics integration, landing page development and brand alignment.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Several years of marketing / communications experience, specifically in campaign execution.
  • Experience in creating, editing and publishing web content along with writing and producing communications materials in a business environment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of tools (Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Wordpress, SurveyMonkey).

Are we a good fit for each other?

We want to help you decide if we are a good fit for one another. More information about Consumer Protection BC’s business and structure, including annual reports, business plans, audited financial statements and governance-related materials, may be viewed at www.consumerprotectionbc.ca.
